A test debut for Sharfuddoula, and interesting to see Richard Illingworth appointed in these Covid times. I’m assuming because Bangladesh have no test umpires, an exception was made for Illingworth to officiate.
This feels a strange appointment. Given Illingworth won't have officiated since August in the UK. Surely Gaffaney being in-season in his home country and with lesser COVID risks attached coming from NZ, would have been more logical. Perhaps he didn't want to go through NZ quarantine on return.
