According to the ICC website, Englands Alex Wharf will be umpiring in the T20 tri Series in New Zealand, between the Kiwis, Pakistan and Bangladesh. He’ll be joined by New Zealand’s Wayne Knights and Shaun Haig.

A shame Erasmus and Dar dont get two games, as think they are the better umpires of the two pairings.

Surprised Raza who isn’t on the elite panel gets 2 games.

A change for the Australia v West Indies tests. Richard Illingworth has replaced Nitin Menon as one of the neutral umpires for the series. Illingworth is on field for the first test, with Kumar Dharmasena now on field for the second test despite initially being appointed for the first test.

No change to the local appointment. Rod Tucker is still on field for both tests.

What a terrible pitch for this first test.

A complete concrete road and Pycroft I’m sure will be looking into why we have another dead wicket at Rawalpindi. They already have de merit points on their register and more will follow.

Bangladesh v India - TEST SERIES

FIRST TEST:
On-field: Michael Gough (England) and Sharfuddoula (Bangladesh)
TV Umpire: Chris Brown (New Zealand)

SECOND TEST:
On-field: Chris Brown (New Zealand) and Sharfuddoula (Bangladesh)
TV Umpire: Michael Gough (England)

Ranjan Madugalle will be the Match Referee for the series.

I'm expecting Richard Kettleborough to be one of the neutral umpires for the Australia v South Africa Test series. I wouldn't be surprised if Chris Gaffaney joins him.

Chris Brown the first non-Elite panel umpire to be appointed as a neutral test match umpire since covid if I remember correctly. This, plus his england-Australia appointment in the world t20 could indicate a promotion to elite soon? After all, they haven’t as yet replaced Bruce Oxenford!

I think England can count themselves fortunate that a contentious decision went in their favour in a closely-fought 2nd test. The catch behind by the England keeper seemed to be clean, but the ball sticking down from the keeper's gloves certainly seemed to make contact with the ground. The benefit of doubt should therefore have been given by the 3rd umpire to the Pakistan bat. As it was, the Pakistan bat departed on 94 and England subsequently won by 26 runs.

A fortunate outcome for England regarding that catch. Or is it a case of going with on field decision? Anyhow, I note that the first test pitch has been declared substandard. Rightly so, and credit should go to players for getting a result on it!

If the first test hadn’t of produced a positive result I think it would have been given a poor rating. That has probably saved the ground treading on water with de merit points.

That said, I think the pitch was poor in regardless of the outcome, seeing as the previous test v Australia was like the runway at Heathrow Airport as well.

To expand on my comments further, the wicket received 1 demerit point, the second this year. 5 in a year means trouble! I hope they get it right for the next test held there. Pakistan needs test cricket at home.
