The ECB have just released a statement stating that Phil Whitticase, match referee for the England-Sri Lanka T20I series has tested positive for Covid-19 - he is asymptomatic and is reported as being well.

However, 5 match officials (we can assume Burns, Wharf, Millns and Saggers - not sure who else unless Redfern?) will now have to isolate until July 7th. Alternative officials will now have to be appointed ahead of the ODI series.

Question is who? Richard Illingworth wasn’t appointed in the first place which suggests he’s unavailable. Could we see Gough & Kettleborough on field for all and either Llong or Gould take up the duties?

According to cricinfo, Tim Robinson and Rob Bailey are the replacement officials. Robinson will be on field with Gough for ODI 1 and 3; with Bailey and Kettleborough on field for ODI 2.

Bailey and Robinson return to the international arena, albeit in forced circumstances! Probably a good choice given their international experience.

Joel Wilson didn’t have the greatest of games in the  2nd ODI between Windies abs Australia - 5 decisions challenged, 4 overturned, 1 only just an umpire’s call!

Many congratulations to Alex Wharf on his scheduled test debut - hope all goes well! Hopefully next summer umpires will be travelling again.

The fact that he is involved in 4 out of the 5 games would suggest he is clearly seen as top of the pecking order behind Gough, Illingworth and Kettleborough

Watching the test match and I am simply appalled that Jarvo69 has managed to get onto the field of play for the last 3 games. How has he:

a) been allowed entry - surely the first pitch invasion should have led to a substantial ban.

b) once in the ground, been allowed to gain access to the pitch at 3 separate venues.

Shocking from security services to put the players in such danger! I hope the book is thrown at him!

I couldn’t believe what I was seeing when I saw him today. Surely the security teams would have been briefed about Jarvo today given his previous form. They should have been shown the previous videos so they could have prepared.

I saw he dresses up like an old person until he runs on the pitch so no one notices him.

I just read he’s been arrested. The police are treating his collision with Bairstow as assault.
