I believe the Mackem ref has slightly got the appointments wrong for the ODI series. As per the ICC website only one on-field umpire and the 3rd umpire for each game has been confirmed. So it’s still possible for the likes of Saggers and Wharf to be appointed on-field for this series.

See the link
https://www.icc-cricket.com/about/cricket/match-officials/umpire-appointments

That makes sense. Thanks.

Indeed congratulations to both - they have always seemed decent umpires when I have watched them and I hope they seize their opportunity with both hands!

Incidentally, I was looking forward to watching the New Zealand cricket this winter, but I don’t seem to find anywhere that says if it will be broadcast in the UK. It is usually sky sports, but their website makes no mention of it - does anyone know?

Some appointments updated with home-appointed umpires.

Shame there is still no sign of being able to watch NZ v WI here in the UK :-(

The game is on the bet365 website but I think you need an account to watch.

It’s free to watch on YouTube on the official NZ cricket channel. Sorry I didn’t get that info to you earlier :(

Adrian Holdstock will be on field with Marais Erasmus for the 1st ODI, Allahudien Paleker will join Erasmus for the 2nd ODI, and Bongani Jele will join him for the 3rd ODI.

Surprised not to see Shaun George involved, as after Marais Erasmus he is South Africa’s most experienced international umpire.

I agree with regards to Shaun George. I reckon there could be one of 2 reasons for this:

1) As the most experienced, he will be joining Erasmus on field for plenty of test matches against Sri Lanka and then Australia (barring any further Covid disasters of course!)

2) It could be a similar situation to Johan Cloete a few years back. He seemed to get decent appointments as neutral umpire, went to a World Cup and seemed destined for the test arena but then suddenly disappeared from the scene. Maybe something like this might happen to George?
