ICC T20 WORLD CUP FINAL

So any thoughts on who might get appointed?
My money would be on Illingworth and Erasmus but probably way off the mark

Final appointment as follows:

Umpires: Marais Erasmus (South Africa) & Richard Kettleborough (England)
TV Umpire: Nitin Menon (India)
Reserve Umpire: Kumar Dharmasena (Sri Lanka)
Match Referee: Ranjan Madugalle (Sri Lanka)

Thankyou. Must admit I regard Illingworth as the better of the 2 Richards but that’s just a personal thing. Would have been interesting to see if Michael Gough might have been in the mix before his suspension.

I agree with you there Hendo, it’s interesting that 6 months ago Illingworth was chosen ahead of Kettleborough to be one of the on-field umpires for the Test Championship Final. I do struggle to find logic in the ICC appointments sometimes! Having said that I think well deserved appointment for Erasmus, I was never sure of him at first but now I think he’s a top class Umpire.

Congratulations to all.
I think at pres Erasmus is thought of as one of the best in the world and was probably a shoe in once
South Africa were eliminated. He is certainly a top class official and a top class gent too, certainly very polite and humble on the two occasions i have had the pleasure of speak8ng to him.
I think had Gough not transgressed, once England were eliminated he would have been chose to accompany Erasmus.
In my opinion Gough has jumped ahead of the two richards as Englands no1 and possibly the worlds no1.

There is very little in the richards, Kettleborough was ahead a few years ago, but Illingworth in my opinion
Has probably been slightly the better over the last two years or so.

As there is very little between the Richards and Kettleborough has had a pretty good tournament i am happy
That he has been appointed on this occasion ahead of Illingworth.
