For those who remember, Andrew Cole was a very good (under rated referee) who sadly passed away not long after retiring from Rugby referee management in Australia.

Condolences to his family at this time!

Shocking to hear of this. Andrew was a top international referee and to see how good he was, he was the referee no one saw. everyone who worked with him or were coached with him had nothing but the highest regards for him.

Andrew received World Rugbys Referee award just last December. There is a lovely interview with him below and he comes across as a very humble person.
I didn’t think at the time he looked well, unrecognisable from his reffing days (though we all get older) so maybe he was unwell at the time.

I dont think the award at that time surprised those who knew him and if so, a great touch by World Rugby.

Completely agree, very humble and Wayne Barnes mentioned on twitter that he was a great bloke and referee coach!
