How many fouls will Simeone make before getting booked?

Simeone has to be close to a booking on pace for over 11 fouls

This game desperately needs a YC for persistent infringement (doesn't matter who for but Simeone is on about five fouls now) - then maybe we'll get a football match

Terrible card technique there - waving it around to nobody in particular

Well I could almost see the first yellow coming towards England…. Although it shouldn’t of.

As I thought, tinderbox opened.

Anderson smashed into Messi. Deserved card.

Absolutely correct first card of the game.

Not bowed to the theatrics and stupidity so far. Been firm, in control, controlled within himself so far. Not given a stupid first caution (yes, even for persistent... that would've been daft to do so in this game, in this atmosphere, and at this point of the competition).

I thought it was an awful appointment, but doing extremely well so far.

And now the correct second caution of the game!

3 mins added? So you’re telling me without the hydration break nothing would’ve been added on? Wow.

He’s actually been pretty good in the first half, started off great when he didn’t give a couple of early FK’s to Messi when they were all complaining.

His game management has been superb

Oh apart from that one extremely strange incident where he gave a simple free kick the wrong way (to Argentina )

Impressive performance from Elfath so far. Authoritative, great man management and consistent foul detection. Not fallen for any theatrics and has always kept a calm head.

Both yellow cards were absolutely spot on. I’ll be interested to see if any YC’s are awarded for persistent infringement (Simeone must be close).

Two things

I don’t like this carding technique. It looks terrible to be honest.

3 mins added on? I thought 3 was how many you get for the hydration break. You’re telling me there was no other stoppages in the rest of the half…

Agree with all that. When Anderson got booked, why did Elfath take his yellow out quick and wave it around in the air? What’s the point? It was like he was cautioning everyone there. Just wait till it fizzles down or go straight to the player you’re cautioning.

Felt his first yellow should have been the trip on Bellingham just after the hydration break. Trouble is England didn’t make the same scene as Argentina did when Messi went down (correct caution) just after. Felt he missed a few early ones, playing on instead…forget the flow today it’s all about setting boundaries.
