Heavy claims are being made that this match involved match fixing.

A draw was enough to send both teams through, and it was 2-2 in the 90th minute.

Mahrez scored in the 93rd minute after his team made 110 consecutive passss without Austria touching the ball.

This led to outrage on the Austrian bench, as Austria were furious as they know at 2-2, both teams would’ve went through.

Austria then went onto score in the 96th minute.

This leads people to believe they had a gentlemans agreement or match fixing involved, or had already agreed a final score/result.

This result led to Iran and South Korea being eliminated. Uncomfirmed reports say South Korea have filed a complaint, but I’d take that was the smallest pinch of salt until official reports come out, if they do.

I was watching it. Probably the only time a 3-3 game has bored me to death. There wasn’t a single shot from the last hydration break until added time.

It definitely didn’t feel right - even Mahrez said it felt awkward when he was put through on goal. Let’s just say Algeria weren’t overly bothered about defending the final attack by Austria.
