UEFA need to make public their expectations of these situations (and ultimately where the blame lies)

If the referee "survives" because their initial decision was correct and the error is to get the referee to review it, then the referee is safe (wrongly imho)

If the initial decision was wrong, corrected after VAR, then the VAR "survives"

If the initial decision is wrong and VAR dont step in when expected then English airports and stations become busier as officials are packed off home

Two referees clearly very highly thought of by whoever does the appointments. I expect Ms Frappart and Ms Welsh will be in the slightly strange position of not wanting their national teams to progress to the Final as they must reckon they both stand a good chance of that Final appointment if their neutrality pertains.  Who are the other very highly rated referees who stand a chance for the Final ?

I am not. The authorities clearly see Ms Welch as one of the 'big hitters' and as I have said elsewhere unless there is some huge blow up in a match then I think reputation often takes precedence over performance.
