League C - Group 4
26 September 2022, 20:45 CET - Gibraltar, Victoria Stadium
GIBRALTAR - GEORGIA
Referee: Robert Harvey (IRL)
Assistant Referee 1: Robert Clarke (IRL)
Assistant Referee 2: Wayne McDonnell (IRL)
Fourth Official: Paul Mclaughlin (IRL)

Video Assistant Referee:
Assistant Video Assistant Referee:
UEFA Referee Observer: Nerijus Dunauskas (LTU)
UEFA Delegate: Jan Korinek (CZE)
Referee Liaison Officer: Denis Alvares (GIB)

It seems that UEFA has big plans for Harvey. He had 4 appointments from the start of the season. I hope that he has a good performance.

He hasn’t had many important observers on his matches… maybe that will change if the committee have big plans for him.

Disappointingly wore y****w! Could have worn blue.

He has a very cute smile! Good rapport with the players, fair & consistent decision making, fitness excellent. Couple of great offside calls from both ARs. Fell for one balance issue with the German 10, rightly waved away a balance issue by Nagy. They can be very pleased with their performance and go home proud of themselves. They contributed positively to an amazing game.

Group of death - we killed it!

Off to drink copious amounts of pálinka!

Not a lot of appointments for British or Irish officials at all. Quite surprising. Scotland really need Nick Walsh to progress through the ranks quickly.

League B - Group 4
24 September 2022, 18:00 CET - Ljubljana, Stadion Stožice
SLOVENIA - NORWAY
Referee: Lawrence Visser (BEL)
Assistant Referee 1: Rien Vanyzere (BEL)
Assistant Referee 2: Thibaud Nijssen (BEL)
Fourth Official: Lothar D'hondt (BEL)
Video Assistant Referee: Bram Van Driessche (BEL)
Assistant Video Assistant Referee: Nathan Verboomen (BEL)
UEFA Referee Observer: Roberto Rosetti (ITA)
UEFA Delegate: Christian Mutschler (SUI)

I wonder what Rossetti made of his performance. Disallowed goal correct. I thought he missed clear yellow card on a Slovenian player in the first half. He frustrated both sets of players throughout the game by blowing too much, especially in the first half. I thought to myself that it was nice to watch some football in this game of free kicks, and this wasn't an ugly game at all. And he needs to get a new whistle, I could barely hear it and a couple of times I realised he had blown only when he signalled with his arm.
All in all a little frustrating to watch.

I’m surprised Michael Oliver hasn’t had a game.

That said, a few of these games are only in need of the big hitters and in some ways the committee is looking at new elite officials stepping up to the plate to justify their potential promotions in 2023.

With the World Cup just a few weeks away, I can see the benefit of keeping the Elite referees away from the top teams who they might be due to referee.

I remember they used to do that for international friendlies just before a major competition (which is essentially what this round of fixtures is) - you'd often get officials who weren't going to the tournament doing the big games

Baffles me people keep referring to these games as nothing more than friendlies considering the direct impact they have on Euro 2024.

István was outstanding in his match - really outstanding not just my rose tints outstanding! Even the commentators were praising him.

Absolutely, the rewards for Scotland of not losing tonight are huge.  Guarantees a play off for Euro 2024.  Also puts us in pot 2 so means we cannot draw England and France.  And would put us into Group A so likely to get some big teams at Hampden which commercially could be very lucrative, and while I accept we probably won't survive in Group A the short term publicity of being in it could be huge.  This is a great competition for countries like us as it gives us more to hit at.  However given every defender we have is injured, I think we could be struggling!

ENGLAND - GERMANY
Referee: Danny Makkelie (NED)
Assistant Referee 1: Hessel Steegstra (NED)
Assistant Referee 2: Jan de Vries (NED)
Fourth Official: Sander Van Der Eijk (NED)
Video Assistant Referee:
Assistant Video Assistant Referee:
UEFA Referee Observer: Christopher Lautier (MLT)
UEFA Delegate: Eduard Dervishaj Nelaj (ESP)
Referee Liaison Officer: Adam Kenton (ENG)

I only saw the 2nd half of this and what a 45 minutes it was. I thought Danny Makkelie was superb, always in control, used VAR as it should be, played a super advantage when England broke out of midfield and generally contributed to an exciting half. (PS. Am I alone in thinking that he he looks just like Arnold Shwarzenegger as 'The Terminator'?!)

He's certainly fit and I'm sure many of us ladies, and maybe also some men, will most certainly classify him as hot but not sure he resembles Arni, who imho is not hot! Nice physique - not overly muscular, not an ounce of fat on him though - I reckon his body fat is probably as low as 10-12. Handsome and an absolutely gorgeous smile <--- very important feature!  He's not quite Filip Glova hot but I'd put him at #2 on my totty list! Let's hope he (and Filip come to think of it...) doesn't read RTR

In terms of refereeing, he is a phenomenal referee. Easily top 2/3 in the world. Amazes me that he puts in masterclass after masterclass and 9/10 makes it look so easy. His man management is superb, he leads matches, so so good, the only one who comes close to him in man management terms is István. Can't be easy when you are at the very top to continue to maintain above expected levels of performances match after match, that level of pressure must be immense and speaks volumes about his character.  He's getting some stick elsewhere over the 2 OFR stating he should have spotted them in real time, well imo the first one the attacker looks for the contact so he can go down & I can understand why he played on, 2nd one the stamp to the foot would have been on his blindside, the player was obscuring his view and I don't believe he has developed X-ray vision yet, if he has he will be like the terminator! He wasn't quite at his peak best last night but when your not the best is still superb, it says it all really about him as a referee.
