Very nice appointment for Madden and fully deserved IMO. He seems to be more of an elite referee than Collum at the moment. A very important observer for him as well (I think?)......possible FO spot for him at EURO?

Yes an important observer for Madden...

Collum is under serious threat on his elite status with Madden picking up this tie IMO.

Standard appointment for Brych in Milan, a decent tie for Ekberg however an unfamiliar observer.. if they were looking at him further then I would expect at least a committee member.

Surprise that Lahoz is in Ukraine... seems a strange appointment given the tie status.

I do wonder if Lahoz is being kept away from any controversy before a final appointment later in the season? Unusual appointment it would seem.

Thanks for the confirmation re Madden's observer. I agree Collum is in trouble although I wonder if at 42 they will promote Madden, or if he will just be appointed like a "semi elite" referee so to speak. I guess though this observer could well answer that question.

The situations between two Spanish elite refs has really confuses me since last year. I wonder if Uefa appoints a Spanish ref to a final(ucl, usc or even euro), will it be Antonio Mateu Lahoz or Carlos del Cerro Grande?

It seems that the appointments were made before the 1st leg matches and they didn't make any changes.

That would expain the appointments of Del Cerro Grande and Mateu Lahoz to already decided ties.

Brych gets and expected appointment. Grinfeld gets, in my eyes, the 2nd best appointment of the round. The Israeli has surely impress certain people and his Euro spot seems a lock.

Normal appointments for Ekberg, Massa and Jovanovic. Good match for Madden and with an important observer.

They don't promote to elite over the age of 40. Not enough time for elite level experience ahead of major tournaments.  Edy will know who it was but there has only been 1 as far as I am aware & quite some time ago.
Hajrá Lilák. Csak a Kispest. Hajrá Magyarok! Hajrá játékvezetői csapat! Soha ne add fel. Nincs sárga kérem!!! No Chris Kavanagh doesn't live in Ashton or even in the Greater Manchester area!!

Carlos Del Cerro Grande (ESP) was promoted at the age of 42 on December 2018. The only case so far.

What do you think of Madden’s chances Edy?

I watched him at the Slovenia - Greece UNL match and he was really good. He is definitely a solid 1st group referee but not Elite, IMO.

I didn’t observe the Rangers game last night however it looks like it was a nasty match with cards a plenty, two off and an allegation of racism towards a player?

That’s not a list I was expecting. Great appointment for Ekberg under the Dallas radar.

Siebert appointed over Zwayer... i think it’s probably curtains for Zwayer in the elite group very soon.

Expected appointment for Soares Dias, and Karasev with another chance and an important observer.

I wonder is there even a chance Ekberg will go to EURO as I saw suggested on another site? Seems very unlikely given he is not elite group but his appointments and observers suggest he will at least be promoted to elite in the very near future.

I agree, Siebert's appointment is bad news for Zwayer but also interesting that he is appointed over Stieler who is only FO this week for Brych.

Nice appointment for Mattias Gestranius from Finland as FO, a good referee IMO.

I am surprised by Siebert’s appointment. Aytekin, Zwayer and Stieler are all in elite group and are available but Siebert is the one. I do not think Siebert would go to euro.
Great appointments by Ekberg and Dias. Happy that Karasev also gets a chance.

I think these appointments show there is going to be significant changes in the categories this summer after the Euros.
I think Zwayer’s time is up as it Aytekin. Collum will probably go too.

Edit: what about Bastien. He is a referee I really like but since his promotion to elite I can’t remember too many KO games he’s done in any competition
