2 ten out of ten performances from 2 of the finest refs this week. Makellie is definitely the successor of the Dutch throne when Kuipers retires and has an outside chance of this years final. Brych had excellent control over the game tonight and got all major descions correct

Now onto the 2nd legs. Let's face it- the obvious choices surely have to be Kuipers at the Etihad and Cakir at Stamford Bridge. Orsato possibly with an outside chance of the game at the bridge.

Lahoz on the final still for me. If Madrid are in the final which I personally don't think they will be, it'll be Turpin. If Madrid and Paris are in final, very unlikely though, I'd have to say Makellie or even now with a 1 percent chance Taylor, or maybe even a complete outsider

I do feel however that they may have someone else in mind since 3 of the leading 4 candidates have teams from their country in the Semis

Kuipers on SF 2nd leg, which I know does not completely rule him out of final, but likely too

Expected. Cakir or Orsato (most likely Cakir) at the Bridge before Lahoz in the final I'd say since Real Madrid look like they may go out. Turpin as backup in my opinion

I'd agree other than I think Orsato is more likely.

On the final I'm not sure Turpin is ready yet. If Madrid make the final I'm not sure who will get the appointment.

Parc des Princes, Paris (FRA)
Paris Saint-Germain (FRA) - Manchester City FC (ENG)
Referee: Felix Brych (GER)
Assistant Referee 1: Mark Borsch (GER)
Assistant Referee 2: Stefan Lupp (GER)
Fourth Official: Daniel Siebert (GER)
Video Assistant Referee: Marco Fritz (GER)
Assistant Video Assistant Referee: Bastian Dankert (GER)
UEFA Referee Observer: Roberto Rosetti (ITA)
UEFA Delegate: McDowell Zor (SVN)

An expected appointment. With Makkelie getting a SF it certainly makes the final a tricky dilemma to predict with some conviction.

Personally, itís a shootout between Mateu, Taylor and Cakir for the final depending on the way the semi finals pan out.

Kuipers and Orsato for the other semi final 2nd legs.

1/3 so far!

I wouldn't be surprised with 3/3!

With Kuipers on the SF and possibly Cakir on the other one, I struggle to find another alternative for the final after Lahoz. Perhaps Orsato could get the other SF, keeping Cakir for the final as a back-up. However Cakir's reputation inside UEFA isn't as high as in the past.

That leaves Taylor and Turpin as alternatives, even though neither is ready. A real dilemma.

If Madrid make final it will certainly be interesting

Turpin more ready than Taylor IMO. I agree though neither choice ideal.

I would favour Cakir or even Orsato getting a second final. Is Makkelie an option? I bet Rosetti is hoping RM don't make the final!

The problem with Turpin is that he didn't have any so-called big match this season (the exception is ATM-BAY). So it's risky to appoint him to the final.

I am certain that Rosetti has planned Lahoz for the final. Makkelie could be an option in case RM goes through.

If Man City do make the final, are past issues between Mr Lahoz and Guardiola likely to be a consideration in the appointment?

Doubt it considering they gave Cerro Grande the QF
