I agree but UEFA were giving him a debut to see how he went  and he had Turpin as his VAR

Without an appointment: Istvan Vad (HUN),

He's been out injured again all season. 3rd season running now that he has been injured for the most part - about time for him to hang up his whistle and take up coaching/assessing, imo.

Thanks Edy.

From memory, Zwayer was the only German referee listed on the long list posted for World Cup 2022 but not sure how in favour he is - do you think one of the current first category German referees has any chance for that tournament?

I think Pawson is probably regarded as a solid performer in First Group and that is where he will stay. The next English referee to make the Elite Group, I think will be Kavanagh in a year or two's time.

I agree. Craig Pawson always reminds me of Andre Marriner.

Just to add. Bognár had to come off of 1 game at the last min after a positive covid test so he would have had 3 or more games but was out of contention for a crucial 6 weeks after that.

Probably tomorrow. Dutch FA already announced a promotion on the Women's categories.

If Stieler is promoted now, I can see him getting on the 2022 WC pre-list (even though a source said that they reviewed the list a few weeks back without any change for UEFA).

Zwayer is having a difficult season in UEFA. If he wasn't German, then he would have been out of the pre-list already.

It will be interesting to see who’s booted out of elite...

Physically they are fairly different but I know what you mean. Something about an understated, at times almost slightly disengaged style, which they share. The very antithesis of histrionic refereeing. Marriner looks more composed but then he has more experience at the very top level.

I'm sure they will both be hugely disappointed to know I save the fancying bit just for Mr Kassai!!!  ;D

As some may remember, Aleksey Es'kov took a temporary break from refereeing after the 'lie detector' scandal of a few months ago.  As far as I know, he has not yet resumed his activities.
