I think given there is a UEFA investigation on going it would have been improper to appoint the same referee. Both in terms of the extra pressure and attention this would put on him as well as potentially enflaming again an already difficult situation.
Completely agree with this. Far better to take Hategan out of the spotlight. If he and his ARs had remained on the game then the media focus would have been on all of them tonight and not on the game itself, an unfair pressure on them and unfair to both teams. Can you imagine the media if he made even the tiniest of mistakes with a decision? He'd be absolutely crucified by them, he does not deserve that.
The teams deserve a fresh set of match officials that come with no baggage from the time played last night. They need to be able to concentrate purely on their football.
It is the right decision to replace the whole team, imo.
