Referee: Sandro Schärer (SUI)
Assistant Referee 1: Stephane De Almeida (SUI)
Assistant Referee 2: Bekim Zogaj (SUI)

Video Assistant Referee: Massimiliano Irrati (ITA)

UEFA Referee Observer: Nicola Rizzoli (ITA)
UEFA Delegate: Michal Mertinyák (SVK)

Happy to see this ref on the game. He was excellent in the Nations League game v Serbia.

Still can't believe Hungary have a team in the CL! The whole country will come to a standstill during the match with everyone regardless of team cheering Fradi on. Just not an absolute humiliation please dear god of football!

Lovely voice as well as handsome! Telling the players to enjoy the game & have fun at the coin toss.  Missy bmb might be a little in love here! Good job Mr bmb only reads the NBI thread! ;)

Hajrá Fradi!
Hajrá Lilák. Csak a Kispest. Hajrá Magyarok! Hajrá játékvezetői csapat! Soha ne add fel. Nincs sárga kérem!!! No Chris Kavanagh doesn't live in Ashton or even in the Greater Manchester area!!

Hajrá Fradi!

2 big calls in the first half. Disallowed goal for Fradi - correctly for offside. Great bit of magic from Tokmac though. Penalty for Barca - easy decision. Fradi player left his leg out deliberately knowing Messi was there about to go past him behind him. No complaints with him in the first half. Good communication with players, could hear him telling Dibz to stay on his line at the pen and a few other words here & there. Lovely cheerful nature.

Only 2-0 down at HT and not out of it yet. Barca not having it all their own way & Fradi are doing us proud.

Masterclass performance from him.

More big calls in the 2nd half - penalty for Fradi - great spot on the shirt pull from his angle. Red card for DOGSO spot on. Couple of excellent and very tight offsides from both AR's. Fair and consistent. Quietly did his job in the background, made the decisions he needed to when he needed to and made them confidently. Rapport with players was excellent, you could hear him many times as there was no crowd and he spoke quietly, calmly, respectfully and gave good explanations that were met with little to no dissent. Fitness excellent. Can't think of a single thing he could maybe have done better

I think Mr Rizzoli is going to find it difficult to find any 'developmental points' & is going to be a very happy man with the performance he saw tonight. Don Hutchinson & Guy Mowbray were even singing his praises on BT sport, they also mentioned how despite there having been several VAR reviews given the number of big calls they had gone completely unnoticed & asked why it can work so seamlessly in the CL but be such a mess in the PL - they had a very good point!

Fradi lost 5-1 but the score doesn't really reflect the game itself. It does however reflect the class of the opposition! So proud of them, they gave a great account of themselves, several good chances created, never gave up & the score was harsh in that respect.

Yes I feared the worse when I saw his appointment but he performed excellently and looked like he was enjoying himself

Whenever I've seen Mr Lahoz, he seems to be the most chatty and smiley of Elite referees.
At first I wondered whether he was missing a few free kicks but concluded he was correctly not being being swayed by the antics of some PSG players.

Actually, I don't mind seeing a referee with a bit of personality as long of course he gets the key decisions right and manages a game well.

With Kuipers being 47 an already on a +1 year, does he come off the list in December?

If he meets the criteria for a further +1 he may well be offered it as the Euro's have been moved.  Not sure there are set rules on how many +1 years they can have. Edy will probably know more than me.

There is no limitation on how +1 a referee can get. Once nominated from his country, he is subject to FIFA's approval. FIFA decides on a case-by-case basis.

Interesting to note that FIFA have put out a letter/memo stating that due to Covid-19, there [i can't remember correct wording as I have it third hand but its similiar to] need not or should not be any changes to the FIFA panels for 2021.

Watched the BT channel which focused on all 6 later kick-offs.  No great controversies mentioned.
Kuipers awarded a penalty in his game after being advised to look at the monitor, and a ATM goal was ruled out in Munich as a player in an offside position was deemed to be in the goalkeeper's line of sight.  It showed the AR talking to Oliver over the comms.

I watched the Inter – Borussia MG game live, and there was some surprise that Mr Kuipers had failed to spot the penalty, but these things happen, and VAR was doing its job.  VAR arguably did its job less well in determining that Borussia's second goal was not offside, a process that took no less than four minutes.  As I understand it, there were two problems: the first was that there were two questions to answer, since the issue offside arose only arose if a certain member of the Borussia team played the ball on its way through to the goal scorer, something that was not evident in real time.  The second was that having answered the first question, VAR seemed unable to find an image that the showed the two players involved from an angle that made it possible to decide whether the goal scorer was indeed offside at the relevant moment.  Perhaps in the circumstances benefit of the doubt could have been given to the attacking team rather more promptly.

Ovidiu Hategan (ROU) has replaced Guida (ITA) at the Atletico - Salzburg match.

His assistants will be Octavian Șovre (ROU) and Sebastian Gheorghe (ROU). The FO/VAR/AVAR remain the same.
