Kuipers with 2 CL and 1 EL appointment on the Knock-out stage so far. I believe that this shows that his appointment on Barcelona - PSG was a replacement for possibly Taylor due to travel restrictions.

Kuipers the favourite for EURO final in your view?

He is in my "inferior to Edy's" opinion!

*I say inferior as he has way more knowledge at UEFA level than I will ever have!
Hajrá Lilák. Csak a Kispest. Hajrá Magyarok! Hajrá játékvezetői csapat! Soha ne add fel. Nincs sárga kérem!!! No Chris Kavanagh doesn't live in Ashton or even in the Greater Manchester area!!

I believe so. If Netherlands are not on the final, I would say that he is a lock.

If Netherlands are on the final, well that's a big discussion.

Probably more knowledge than most on here combined!

Indeed if Netherlands are in the final it is very hard to say. Normally I would say Cakir but I can't see it with the current UEFA president... and he hasn't been on top form the last year (although still very good). Brych would perhaps be a good bet.

Kuipers’s seventh appointments in CL this season, I wonder if anyone before him could get seven or more games in CL within a season? He is an outstanding ref with authority and is well thought of IMO.

Good to see an English official appointed even if in a match that seems already decided - but maybe they learnt from Aytekin!!

Maybe Oliver will be in the EL?

I wonder if Turpin has any chances for the CL final, I guess maybe EL is more possible. Makkelie and Lahoz are maybe favourites.

Both have important observers too... I can’t see Turpin lined up for anything big this season.. but you never know!!

Where do we reckon we're at in terms of Euro 2020 referees?

Referees like Grinfeld seem to have progressed a bit further and might have a good chance now because of delay.

I think Netherlands will send two referees - are any others likely?

I think Oliver might miss out this time but Taylor has been refereeing extremely well recently.

For me both Oliver and Taylor to go as referees as they have both been great this season however i do agree Taylor has probably just edged it, so if only one can go then UEFA would send Taylor but imo both deserve to go.

I think Frappart and Turpin from France
Brych and Zwayer from Germany
Kuipers and Makkelie from Holland
Cakir from Turkey
Haetagen from Romania
Grindfield from Israel
Jesus Gil, Del Cerro and Lahoz from Spain
and many more from different countires

A total scandal IMO if Zwayer goes to EURO, would be totally undeserved IMO.

I think Oliver and Taylor will probably both go but I agree if it is only one - it will be Taylor.

I hope Hategan will be able to attend but issues relating to the Paris incident may persist and I believe he will need a new AR, as I assume the one involved will definitely be out?

Skomina is an interesting case, some have suggested that due to injury Vincic may overtake him. I have never been that convinced by Vincic but if Skomina is injured maybe he will get in.

Has it been established how many Referees are likely to go to Euro 2020?  I had a figure of 18 in mind but could be completely wrong.

Kuipers and Makkelie I agree are a likely duo from 1 country.  Germany possibly with two referees but would the second choice be preferable to Oliver on merit if only Germany or England had 1 representative?  GingerReferee mentions all 3 elite from Spain but I really can't see that happening; two maybe.

France will have Turpin for sure although Stephanie Frappart would be an interesting (political?) choice if two were to go.

Edy can probably advise on whether the selection is made primarily to include referees from as many countries as possible within certain ranking criteria or is strictly on merit?
