Lahoz had PSG-MNU on MD1.

I think that it's a rare appointment given the limited options for Spanish referees (Groups A, B, E and G are out due to Spanish teams) and the fact that he already had Group C and H.
I know that I know nothing

Added in the colour code of blue for the Swedish appointments at the request of Bakis. Yellow does not show up well on here so went for blue haha.

Stieler and Ekberg seem to be picking up regular and decent appointments

Pawson had an EL match last week.

Yh I understand that but still I would like them to have a debut and there is no way it'll happen after group stages

I think Pawson had his CL debut last season no?

Good game for Taylor, I think it is 100% clear UEFA consider him amongst the top elite

I don’t understand why Hategan is needed again on this MD

Great to see Cakir with a very crucial game, seems still has (or has regained) full trust from the committee.

I am slightly baffled as to what is required for a CL debut given the names we see this week. IMHO there are other referees more deserving.

Královec with a game, still a candidate for demotion I think though.

Is Zwayer injured? Otherwise I think he is going to be demoted. I think based on Stieler’s game we can now be certain he will be promoted, amazing group stage for him.

Good to see Schärer with a game. Imo a very very talented referee

what do you have to do to get a champions league debut these days?

debut for Turkish ref?

Pawson should have had a game in my opinion too many repeated referees

Frankowski’s appointment clearly indicates Marciniak is out of favour at present.

Scharer gets a good appointment with an important observer.

Kralovec with a game seems weird. Maybe this is his farewell to the elite group as discussed.

He had his debut in 2018
Monaco vs Dortmund but hasn't been used since
Why?

He also had Ajax v PAOK last year. sorry - that was in the qualifying round

IMO Pawson has had a pretty good season so far internationally. The first thing to note is that he is a first group referee and imo will never reach the elite category.

Within the first group I think UEFA regard him in the second tier of first group referees. Below the group that are being prepared for promotion but in the group that they have full faith in for important EL matches and occasional CL matches. This season he has had a 3rd round EL qualifying game a nations league A game and 3 EL games -

Real Sociedad v Napoli
Lillie v AC Milan
Omonia v PAOK

The first two games involve top teams (for the EL) (both top 2 in their group) and the final match he had was a crucial clash in terms of the group.

So I think this is pretty good for one of the better 1st group referees - given the appointing this year is he unlucky not to get a CL game? Yes, does this reflect very badly on him? imo, no. I think he has a good chance for a EL knockout game and appearance at the Euros next year (FO/VAR/AVAR).

Edy and TTFL can correct me where I'm wrong there!!
