I'm a bit surprised that Brych has a Switzerland game considering the fallout from Switzerland V Serbia in the World Cup last year - he could easily have done England V Netherlands instead.

A very good referee though - I would expect to see Cakir involved too at some point.

Skomina hinted in a recent interview that he had another big game coming up after the CL final - wonder if he has the other semi

It would not seem the best appointment to me, considering the number of Liverpool/Tottenham players likely to be involved in the game.

Happy enough with Turpin.

I hope that Cakir gets the final.

I've actually just seen that Cakir is doing a Euro qualifier on Friday - Rocchi, Lahoz and Orsato are also involved so out of running for Nations League final.

Another final for Skomina perhaps?!

Kuipers (assuming England rather than Netherlands) or Kassai (4O for semi but that should not be a bar)?

I'd be surprised if Kuipers was involved considering Netherlands are.

Kassai didn't do a single Champions League knockout game so I think he would be unlikely for the final.

Marciniak could be a possibility or del Cerro Grande perhaps. I think that Zwyer was the other possibility who refereed with VAR in CL.

I have seen Mallenco mentioned as a possibility elsewhere - I believe he is retiring this summer so could be a goodbye present sort of thing. Some have suggested hategan but again he didn't do CL knockout game and I don't think has much VAR experience - perhaps someone without much VAR use is more likely for 3rd/4th play-off.

I'm sure Edy will be able to tell us who is favourite!

Would love to see Kassai get it or the 3rd/4th game - apart from the Man City game, where Bognár called a pen wrong & therefore Kassai called a pen wrong (official in Hungary as to which of them made the call & confirmed by the appointments since then) he's had a great season.  43 games in total, 19 in the NB1, 3 in the NB2, 19 in the Saudi League to gain VAR experience amongst the 43.  Only 1 really bad error (yes there have been other errors but not major ones) and the bad error was called by one of his team and not him, although as ref he takes responsibility for it. I know it is doubtful though, thanks Tamás!  :-\

Lahoz would be my odds-on, even if Spain is adjacent to Portugal. Though I haven't looked at the appointments for the qualifiers, what's to stop someone being appointed 48 hours after a previous game? That's "standard" if you're in the Europa League on a Thursday & then back in your country for a Saturday. Otherwise, if England lose then I'd think Kuipers. And if the Spain/Portugal neighbour relationship is an issue then Zwayer. With others away in Poland for the U20, the options (with the 48 hour gap) are limited. Kassai would be a shoe-in were it not for his team's most recent form. And if England do go through, would UEFA appoint Collum rather than Lahoz? This is the most fundamental issue - perception!

Totally agree. Bognár let him down very badly, like Vad did in the Euro's 2012. His 2 AR's have been performing well but he does seem to have problems with his AARs letting him down.  I hope Berke will replace Bognár on his team, which would also provide Berke with some valuable experience. Very talented young ref as well.
