Big appointment for Karasev. Given his recent performances, it's a deserved one.

Van Boekel doesn’t inspire me with any confidence as VAR.

Alongside Irrati, they are most definitely the poorest VAR officials around at present.

I cannot fathom what the thinking is of Rosetti at the moment. Despite him observing, this is a weird appointment given Siebert’s stature.

Very very strange.

It would appear they’re looking for fresh blood into the top echelons of European refereeing by these appointments

He was poor in the euros and still hasn’t achieved elite status. There are far better upcoming referees than this dude

My initial thought was that Anthony Taylor must be in with a good shout for the Final, but having seen the Siebert appointment I don't know what to expect.

Apart from the retirements, I wonder if the Euros changed the 'rankings' at all in the minds of Rosetti and the Committee.

Honestly, I wasn't expecting Siebert on that SF. Big risk by Rosetti and co to appoint a first Group referee. He had a decent Euro and his last performance on Inter - Real was good.

I think that he is clearly Germany's No1 after Brych's retirement. IMO Brych is a lock for the final with perhaps Taylor as an outside bet.
