Not sure who was refereeing France v Wales but the early red card for Williams of Wales for handball, apparently following a VAR check, seemed extremely harsh. Handball? Possibly, but only possibly, according to current interpretation. Goal bound? No. And that in a friendly match.

Haven't seen it, but there is no VAR in friendlies.

Having seen the incident I can confirm that there very definitely was VAR in this friendly!

In terms of the decision, I think it’s a handball that uefa would expect to be given (not that I personally agree it should be a handball). Don’t think the ball was heading in so red card harsh.

I can't see a listing for the Hungary v Cyprus game tomorrow. I have looked on the uefa website!

If anyone can help please...

According to the law 5 website, Matej Jug is the referee. No assistants or fourth official listed though.

Thanks.  They're a pretty reliable site. That won't go down well with the home crowd, he did not impress on a previous Hungarian outing or 2! Internationally I think it was v Wales at the Groupama. We won but he was not on form shall we say!  MOL Fehérvár game rings a bell as also being somewhat erratic! Vidi won on pens from memory. Pretty sure he also had a bad night at the office in a Fradi game as well, that was a draw away somewhere.  He's not Karasev level disliked but he's not one who will be welcomed!

Stupid question but international refs are still observed even in friendlies?

Not a silly question and I doubt it. Not formally anyway

Haven't seen it, but there is no VAR in friendlies.

Sorry to say, but before the Euros there are in some matches.

Poland - Russia, France - Wales and Netherlands - Georgia are the games to be set up with VAR.

Here is a link which shows the whole incident.

I might be in the minority here but fir me that decision is fine.

The arms (both) are outstretched away from his body, thus making himself bigger.
The arms are still moving when they block what for me looks a goal bound shot (instep of forward at an inwards angle towards goal, keeper on floor).
I think it is a DOGSO and correct in law.
