FIFA U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019
« on: Wed 21 Aug 2019 17:50 »
With less than three months to go before the FIFA U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019 kicks off, the FIFA Referees Committee has appointed 20 trios of match officials, five Support Referees and 17 Video Assistant Referees (VARs), representing all six confederations.

This competition in Brazil will give ambitious FIFA referees the opportunity to showcase their quality while taking another big step in their careers.

Referee preparation for the prestigious youth competition will be organised by the FIFA Refereeing Department and will focus on a wide range of topics, including officials’ reading of the game, football understanding, positioning to adjudge offside, teamwork, good decision-making, and the importance of taking up the best position or angle – i.e. being in the right place at the right time.

All of these aspects reflect the philosophy of FIFA Refereeing and are key to referee preparation. As such, they are vital to the attainment of consistency and uniformity at elite level of refereeing.

Following on from the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017, where Switzerland’s Esther Staubli officiated one game, FIFA has again selected female referees for a men’s tournament. Claudia Umpierrez and Luciana Mascarana from Uruguay will team up with Monica Amboya from Ecuador to form a trio during the tournament, while Edina Alves Batista from Brazil has been appointed as a Support Referee. In addition: Bibiana Steinhaus (Germany) and Quetzalli Alvarado (Mexico) have been named among the VARs for this competition.

The FIFA U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019 will take place in Brasilia (Gama), Goiania and Vitoria (Cariacica) between 26 October and 17 November 2019. The final will be played at the Estadio Bezerrao in Brasilia on 17 November.

Decent performance from this ref. Very encouraging towards the players, chatting away to them. Isn't it nice to watch a game where players aren't cheating and diving!  Hungary were dominating at 2-1 up then on 79 failed to notice 1 player at a corner unmarked and it was 2-2. It started a mad 7 mins, 81 it went 3-2 and 86 it went 4-2. So our kids went from being to comfortable at 2-1 up to being shell shocked at 4-2 down! Well done to the young Nigerian lads who never gave up & were rewarded with a win for their continued efforts. Lesson learned for our young boys. Game was played in a wonderful spirit and was thoroughly enjoyable!

Craig Pawson invited Ma Ning to review a penalty incident in New Zealand - Angola but the Chinese upheld his initial decision: FK in favour of defending team.

That is bizarre. Can't see what the attacking player did wrong. Stood in front of the keeper and didn't move as he doesn't have to.  ???

4 minutes to get it wrong! Not like the ref had not warned the GK.
If they cannot get that right, god help us

Silly decision from the Chinese ref.
Go with the VAR, if later FIFA say the VAR was wrong the ref is not blamed. If FIFA say VAR was right then ref is not blamed and system works.
The only way for the ref to be 'wrong' is to do exactly what he did.

On another note if the ref says he was impeding the GK, wouldn't the push be at the same time, then the more serious offence gets punished eg a penalty?

Unfortunately as you have said just very poor. Will limit Ning's involvement but certainly will not have harmed Pawson's reputation

Is it the 1st April????????????????????

Can someone please explain how that is anything other than a penalty kick. New Zealand player just stands there and GK pushes him out of the way. I'm staggered the Chinese referee thinks that's a defensive free kick even after VAR review.

Does anyone know who'm FIFA have backed here???
