the answer to the question of hooper being in sg1 is no as one week he's doing a prem game the next he's doing a championship game-should stay in sg2 as he does more championship games than sg1 games does anybody think langford should jump into sg1 category?

No, the likes of Jones, Robinson, England. Should Go up first.

Is it usual for the AVAR to be an AR, as thought it was normally a ref, but Lee Betts is with Michael Oliver this week.

I was thinking that.

Perhaps it indicates the lack of English FIFA referees. If Attwell/Tierney are out on Wednesday or Thursday - eitehr as VARs in Champions League or refereeing in Europa League - then it might be they're struggling for numbers with Pawson away currently.

Perhaps it’s a change in policy for countries that are using VAR in their domestic leagues. In some of the other appointments on Tuesday (eg Makkelie and Rocchi), FIFA ARs are being used assistant VARs as well.

TV highlights suggest that Michael Oliver had a reasonable game in Barcelona last night. Barce goal was correctly disallowed for offside and Michael was not conned by a dive in the penalty area by a Barce player late in the drawn game. I'm sure Michael will be hoping for similar on Sunday at Anfield.

Mr Rocchi has made life hard for himself in the Chelsea v Ajax match. Imagine if he didn't play advantage and stopped the game, awarded the free kick and gave Blind the 2nd yellow card. Personally I thought it was a foul that gave Chelsea the ball but happy to be wrong there.

Both Taylor and Oliver on Tuesday's group D matches.
Taylor in Turin, Pawson as 4th, Attwell & Tierney with the zapper
Oliver on early ko in Moscow, Coote as 4th, Kavanagh and Betts on VAR duties

Very strong team with Taylor. Assuming Coote may be getting a white christmas present?

Massive game for Taylor. Clearly UEFA rate him higher than Oliver. All England's FIFA referee brigade are out in force, and looks like Coote will be getting a shiny badge in January.

Kabakov under the Dallas radar so a very important observer for him.

I think of things work out well for him Taylor could be in like for a semi-final possibly even a final!

Still baffled by the FIFA preference if Taylor over Oliver. For me the latter is far better but I suppose it’s all down to choice

Also I dont think Taylor has had an incident in a high profile games as Oliver did (even though it was correct, powerful forces abound in UEFA)

If that really is the case (and I have no reason to doubt it) then it is a very sad and worrying situation because Oliver was brave and correct in sending Buffon off. For the powers that be in the corridors of FIFA to hold this against him is nothing short of criminal

Hendo, I think the issue is with UEFA. There were suggestions on here a while back that FIFA look more favourably on Oliver.  Whether that still holds I'm not sure.

Oliver has attended two FIFA world tournaments, if I remember correctly did a semi at one and the final at another
Taylor attended a UEFA tournament and I think he also refereed the final
Would seem one is preferred by one organisation over another
More chance for Taylor to do Champions League final but more likely to see Oliver at the World Cup
