Sergey Karasyov, most often spelled as Karasev, Elite Category referee from Russia.

The Russian spelling is Карасёв, not Карасев. Therefore, it should be transcribed as Karasyov, not Karasev, the former being much closer to original pronunciation than the latter.

You can check the pronunciation here:

Is it usual for the AVAR to be an AR, as thought it was normally a ref, but Lee Betts is with Michael Oliver this week.

I was thinking that.

Perhaps it indicates the lack of English FIFA referees. If Attwell/Tierney are out on Wednesday or Thursday - eitehr as VARs in Champions League or refereeing in Europa League - then it might be they're struggling for numbers with Pawson away currently.

I think they've got to do a full season in the top domestic season first, so I'd guess January 2021 would be more likely.

I think Coote will be added to the FIFA list at the start of 2020 - one presumes Hooper won't be.

Given Hooper sporadic appearances in the PL i would guess not. The greater question is whether he should be in SG1 anyway! The answer to that is pretty conclusive.

the answer to the question of hooper being in sg1 is no as one week he's doing a prem game the next he's doing a championship game-should stay in sg2 as he does more championship games than sg1 games does anybody think langford should jump into sg1 category?

No - Langford too inconsistent. The fact that he had a good game at Chelsea when covering for Graham Scott seems to have clouded peoples judgement.
