I watched the Juventus – Atl.Madrid on TV, but there is little to report: for a game between an Italian and a Spanish team it was all very calm and straightforward.  There were a few occasions when Mr Taylor waved play on, where he might have given a free kick, but his approach was consistent and even-handed.  He clearly conformed to the commentators' expectations of an English referee.

Edited on 28 Nov.

The newspaper La Repubblica gave Mr Taylor a mark of 7 with the comment 'semplicemente perfetto'.  One can only contemplate with wonder the levels of perfection needed to obtain a mark of 7.5 or higher.
