When PLC was in charge of UEFA, Oliver was his favorite referee. He did a CL R16 shortly after his promotion to the Elite Group. Now PLC has moved to FIFA.

With Rosetti in charge of UEFA, Taylor has got many significant appointments. It seems that he considers him the best English referee.

An interesting point edy.  Wasn't it Collina that wanted Clattenburg for the Euros in 2016, and as previously commented, the FA (Ellery?) wanted Atkinson so they both went.

I don't whether it would be a factor, at least not yet, but Taylor is 41 and Oliver only 34, despite their both joining the SG at the same time as I recall. Was it 2010?  Would that mean Taylor has only one chance of the WC in Qatar in 2022, whereas Oliver potentially has two and possibly 3 if he were still eligible
in 2030?

Much as I would prefer both to go to the Euros next year, I'm not sure England would get 2 representatives appointed again, and the evidence does suggest it's more likely to be Taylor.

Have to say, as Readingfan mentions, that in the European and International games I've seen over the past 12 months, both have had some good performances.  I've not read any reports either to indicate otherwise.
