General Discussion / Re: Pyramid Patrol 2022/23

A very reasonable question, cwh. Ten or so years ago, a former member, Hx Philip, and I both found the slow refereeing style of a well-known referee from Sheffield irritatingly "ponderous." His name was Craig Grundy. Like Mr Tyers, though, he got the job done effectively.
thank you  - now enlightned

General Discussion / world cup break
« on: Sat 29 Oct 2022 17:24 »
as a matter of interest - during the break will the full-time refs be officiating in league 1 and 2 ot will they have  the break as well   - if they do move to league 1 and 2 it seems a little unfair on the present 1 and 2 officials

General Discussion / Re: Tragic News of Lincolnshire Referee
« on: Thu 27 Oct 2022 04:19 »
How very sad - when I played many years ago I hated heading the ball so I didn't and was always ridiculed for not doing so and was not picked for teams as a result - so i gave up playing and took up refereeing instead

Klop has 'apologised'- what a joke!!! - I agree 'apolgies' in circumstances like this mean absolutely nothing because they are rarely said genuinely(just like polititians when they are caught out) and are just 'a performance for the media'and I have yet to be convinced they actually really mean it
I dispair!!!

For those interested more about this in todays papers   https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63222099 - although judging from the amount of views not that many seem to be interested

This has continued with many replies/comments https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63222099 -worth reading

What a depressing start  to the day reading this and the relevant attachments about abuse at grass roots level - I'm sure it wasn't like that when I was refereeing many years ago - I did not suffer any physical abuse but verbal abuse  - there doesn't appear to be an answer to this problem no matter what is tried
I cannot understand why someone has to post abusive messages on social media ( which did not exist in my time) - what pleasure does anyone get from this?
Is there an answer? -Im beginning to think sadly no - but not to give up trying

Game of throw ins - please don't apolgise for mentioning a game at this level - it is a refreshing change from the usual mostly Premiership/VAR/Championship incidents that are mentioned - refereeing at this level perhaps needs to have more coverage
