General Discussion / managers interviews
« on: Mon 05 Feb 2024 06:35 »
I know this not directly about referees (and obviously said 'tongue in cheek' without any malice intended) but I wish the managers had to pass some kind of basic english test before being interviewed on TV  -for instance I listened to the interviews after the Bournemouth match and could hardly understand either of them and I think there was some reference to R Welch red card although I'm not sure about that
Perhaps its just me getting older and less tolerant

but I wish there was a rule about the standard of

General Discussion / Re: Bournemouth v Luton
« on: Sat 16 Dec 2023 20:01 »
Being a life long Luton supporter (over 60+ years through thick and thin including the non league years) this is last sort of thing you  want to hear -  I have long since left Luton and although I havn't actually seen them personally for many years they are always the first result looked for - i used to attend every home match at Kenilworth Road in my teens and it gave me much pleasure - for some bizarre reason I always remember  one referee B A B Buckle a tall ganging individual with a large moustache but I have never seen or heard any reference to him
However,as others have said, thanks to everyone involved in the swift action to aid Lockyer and lets pray for positive result

Could also mean they are giving national league referees some higher league games. For example not Tuesday just, Tuesday before, they were all national league/first season efl referees besides Mr Parsons.

Thanks for reply although I must admit i do not really understand what you mean - perhaps someone could elaborate

Edited to fix the quote thingamajigga, bmb

Does Ms Dowles appointment at Peterborough in the FA Trophy mean that we are likely to see her in League 1/2 anytime soon? - not sure how these things work

I believe Ms Welch and Aspinall were released after QF appointments had been made (unconfirmed)

Pretty sure FIFA have done that in other tournaments, if your nation in still in the competition at the quarter final stage you get released.

If that is the case why did Frappart get quarter final with France still in competition? or have I got it wrong? -I suppose in the general scheme of things it doesn't really matter -just interested

I had hoped we would see Ms Welch getting one of the semifinals at World Cup but the fact England are in one of them preclude her the other one - just wondered - from my observations she certainly seemed to have had a good tournament

Earrings, chains, watches, no shin pads.- against Laws of the game.
Mixed teams - against FA rules

But it’s for charity so ignored.

It's raised £15 million already tonight.  Would you rather they strictly apply the laws and don't get players to turn up?

Great for charity and awesome event overall.
Just would like to see the basics adhered to.

It can't even be officially sanctioned, mixed sex football isn't allowed in England above U16 age.  The FA / PGMOL will have given Abi and her team permission to referee the game, but it is far from an official game, she could have asked players to remove jewellery and not been able to do much if they'd refused.

Can you even begin to imagine the backlash if the game had been delayed, players not been allowed to play, or even been abandoned altogether, because a referee was insisting all jewellery was removed?  It would have been horrendous, this is a £20 million football game with all of it going to charity.  An element of realism and pragmatism is needed here.

Does it really matter about the 'basics' on this case - it was a good fun 'occasion' to watch played in a good spirit - it was a pleasure to watch a match without any 'histonics, cheating etc - well done to all involved

One of the pictures is large so you need to look for the scroll bar down the bottom so you can scroll over to see the missing text. It should only be happening on that one page with the picture on.

Thank you for your reply - but I think the heat (and age) must be affecting me - I can see no scroll bar down  the bottom in order to scroll over -     i am obviously not seeing something which should be obvious -I will keep trying

Has anyone noticed that Pyramid Patrol is not displaying correctly - all sentences are 'cut off' at the right side so that the full sentence cannot be read (in the last couple of pages} -this seems to only refer to Pyramid Patrol
Something like this happened a few months ago and it was quickly sorted
Any ideas?

Fortunately I did not see the match and I'm rather pleased I didn't given all that went on
No punishment likely to be dished out will very likely have little or no effect on those involved
Perhaps life bans might help

Because he appears to do anything he likes with complete disregard to anyone else (although I do not know the regulations regarding this)  - he is, in my opinion, the most unpleasant, arrogant person,I have seen recently involved in Premiership football at the moment  (although of course I do not know him personally) - this is how he 'comes over' to many people - not a very good 'role model' to present

With the regular season over and just one match remaining, it is time, once again, to express thanks to aaa for his sterling work throughout the season in posting details of appointments. His work is invaluable - and much appreciated.

Thanks to all who keep the site functioning smoothly, to the officials who run the various leagues and especially to the volunteers whose hard work  keeps their clubs running.

Best wishes to referees at all levels for an enjoyable Summer. Come back refreshed and raring to go next season - and remember: JCFC knows nothing about refereeing, so you are always far better than he could ever have aspired to be.

JCFC - just a word of thanks for keeping us (me anyway) entertained with all your amusing antics travelling to and reporting on lower League matches which makes a refreshing change from Premiership etc - so well done and thank you
