General Discussion / Re: S Attwell - Ars v M City
« on: Sat 01 Jan 2022 14:48 »
After all that, it seems celebrating shirtless and in front of opposing fans isn't a bookable offence either.

I believe he was booked for that.

Oh, ok, I have just seen on the premier league live page, that he has been booked, I was following the sky sports commentary page, which didn't show the booking.

Everton, with 11 players testing positive, have had their postponement appeal rejected.

5 tested positive, 6 injured.

Ok, I stand corrected.

Awaiting Klopp's rant on this one...

Don't worry I won't hold my breath!

Seen  that on Sky Sports last night, my thoughts, Morton is lucky not to have seen red.

General Discussion / Apologies
« on: Wed 22 Dec 2021 16:32 »
I apologise to the users of this forum (and anybody else whom I may have offended), I am just a passionate football fan who, like anyone else wants my team win matches and succeed.

I didn't know that the PGMOL had eye's on the board

That post along with the others over the last couple of days, were out of wanting:
1) Consistent officiating in football/my team to win
2 Emotion

Tierney and Cavanagh together again, for the Manchester City match, oh what could go wrong?

How many threads are you going to post that pearl of wisdom on?  This was their 4th game together this season - perhaps you could enlighten us if there were problems in the previous 3? I genuinely don't know if there was or not.

How many threads? One (I deleted the other, which was only amended two or three times after I tried to add a smiley)

I don't know if there were problems in the other games.

I was thinking of what happened in the Spurs v Liverpool game, then they get paired with our title rivals in the next game.

It reminds me of the 13-14 season when on boxing day Liverpool getting a miles onside goal disallowed vs Man City, also in the same game Liverpool should have also had a penalty for a Lescott foul on Suarez.

Then, whilst not the same officials, Chelsea were also the beneficiaries of generous refereeing decisions when Oscar only received a booking for a two footed lunge on Lucas Leiva and when Eto'o tripped Suarez in the box but no penalty was given.

Season end, Liverpool placed, two points behind Man City.

Tierney has improved a lot and been one of the best refs for the past 1 and a half seasons but today, totally lost it. He will have better days. However, wasnt helped by a totaly incompetent and useless VAR. The game today shows why many are not in favour of the VAR, me included!

I was was one of the many who amidst all the calls to bring in VAR, knew things like this would still happen, even when we benefit from VAR.

25
As bad as Liverpool's defence was, the officials were somehow worse, I hope what happened in 13-14 doesn't happen again this season.

26
For the amount of time it took to check the non-penalty decision, I wonder if the VAR screen was a touchscreen where the on field official could choose one angle from an incident and slow it down, so it'd only need to be checked once.

Mostly well officiated game, I thought Fabinho was lucky not to be sent off for kicking the back of Cavani's leg though.

General Discussion / Paul Tierney - Liverpool v Man Utd
« on: Sun 17 Jan 2021 19:24 »
Why did he blow before the minimum time in the 1st half and prevent a clear goalscoring opportunity?

Thought David Coote may be involved, it also, isn't the first wrong penalty decision Paul Tierney has been involved in this week, and with Man Utd being given an helping hand at the top of the table as well.

After Liverpool were denied a penalty v newcastle for this 10 seconds into the video https://twitter.com/i/status/1344398331217371136

Referee in the middle was Paul Tierney, who if he couldn't spot it VAR should of.
