I’ll be honest and say that Mr Jones is not one of my favourite officials. He had a reasonable start and then his foul detection which I believe is very poor has let him down again. The free kick he gave for Rashford, no foul, no contact and a dive. From the free kick Casemiro is in an offside position and definitely attempts to head the ball. Deemed not interfering. Goal scored. Be interested in what the pundits say at half time. It’s about time they started stamping down on divers because whilst Rashford is constantly diving he is not alone as most teams have them. Just before I post. Two clear fouls missed by the ref and the crowd are now justifiably singing their opinion of the ref.

I think he got them both wrong and the wrong way round. The penalty was correct however the tackle was out of control excessive force and caught him high up the lower leg. 100% red for me. The actual red he gave was much less dangerous and a yellow card . I suppose without VAR these mistakes will be made.

Typical Mr Jones performance. Very poor foul detection. Clear penalty missed for Villa and he had a clear and unobstructed view. At least he is consistent 😱

Surely all this talk about it was given at that game and not this is totally impossible. I thought most referees would state that you can only hope for consistency for the game in question. There is absolutely no way you can compare game to game. Bottom line law states in the opinion of the referee.

Having read all the posts. Some are so nitpicking. Yes there was the odd incorrect decision of a corner not goal kick. But it’s easy for us armchair refs. I actually think that over the whole game he was decent. First season, no other RTR messages. There are plenty this season that deserve some RTR advice but not this one. 👏👏

I have just seen a still of the pass and Grealish is very much onside.

Up until the incident at the end he had been decent. But my goodness what a howler. The sort you would expect on your local park but not at this level. What was he thinking. I hope he has a tin hat in his bag. Shame really because he won’t be remembered for anything in this game except that decision

First and foremost a great game of football. I do not support either side and I won’t go into other fouls etc mentioned already. I want to comment on the last few minutes and not the penalty. I understand that more allowance is given at this level but Gallagher wiped out Grealish twice in a couple of minutes. Banged on YC. Nothing given. Finally the foul by Sterling on Foden. Was Sterling’s challenge out of control. Yes. Did the challenge endanger the safety of Foden. Yes. How that was a yellow is beyond me and once again highlights the lack of consistency in these games.

General Discussion / Re: Madley Brothers

Not much right either. In fairness he did okay. He does however still make poor decisions and give out unwanted cards. Unfortunately I feel that when I watch both the brothers it seems to be more about them than the game and they want to be the centre of attention. The way he dealt with Swansea at the sending off was just dismissive and rude and hardly a way to gain player respect

General Discussion / Madley Brothers

Wow a bad day at the office for the brothers. Firstly no intervention by Andrew as 4th official for the deliberate forearm to the head by a Newcastle player. For me 100% deliberate and red card. Brother Bobby Swansea v Sunderland. Sent off Swansea player for two YC’s. I admit I haven’t seen the first one but the second is beyond harsh, just a coming together. If the Swansea one was a yellow, the Arsenal was worthy of three reds 😉

He seemed from his appearance at the time he was 100% certain no card for the second challenge. I agree the first one could have been red. No var for the second one as they can’t intervene in those circumstances. Lucky City there I feel

IMO fully deserved especially Tim Robinson. Having been knocked back by the previous bosses. It would have been easy to accept it and carry on as SG2. Quite the opposite he has battled back and had a really strong season. He has now shown, never give up on your dream, reached SG1. Well done to both Tim and Darren 👏👏👏

The ball barely flicked the hand of Grealish. It’s a shame Mr Coote decided to intervene. It’s a shame he didn’t intervene when Casemero clear went over the top earlier with a nasty challenge. So inconsistent

Wow. I’ve always felt that Mr Coote is extremely poor in foul detection. In this game his decision making has been poor to say the least. So much so that it has enraged both teams and supporters. It’s an unbelievably poor performance from the official imho

General Discussion / Re: A MADLEY - Arsenal v Brighton.

Sadly this now appears to be the norm. Some challenges. Both stated are minimum YC. Mr Madley just smiles and ushers players away. If neither of those challenges warranted sanction. I dread to think what a player has to do to get one, probably something minor
