Apologies I wasn’t aware of that rule about cautions being cancelled out in penalty shootout's

General Discussion / Ivan Kruzliak : Lille vs Aston Villa
« on: Thu 18 Apr 2024 20:44 »
Sorry but a very very poor performance by Ivan ,  poor foul detection , cards dished out like confetti no rapport with players, didn’t give himself thinking time on certain decisions h as no control in my opinion

To top it off Villa goalkeeper Martinez got booked early in the game in the penalty shootout he got warned twice about inciting the crowd then appeared to shush the crowd again with his finger Kruzilak rushed over to him showed him the yellow card which would have been his second no red card followed then seemed to signal he had changed his mind about the yellow !!!

A mixed bag of sorts by Orsato tonight on two or three occasions he and his AR’s missed deflections for GK or CK basic stuff really

He let the game flow for the vast majority of it then seemed to give FK’s for everything and also proceeded on a few occasions to frustrate players and fans he gave FK one way then changed his mind and awarded it the other way I didn’t think he wa fully focused / his usual self and I got this impression aswell when the TNT cameras were on him when captains gathered at the coin toss prior to kick off

If dortmund don’t win Zwayer might be in with a small chance he’s picked up good appointments and seems well thought of and I don’t think he’s had it yet but I would say if he hadn’t had it yet he would probably get the EL final

General Discussion / Re: D COOTE - Arsenal v Villa

I thought he was superb it begs the question why can’t he perform like that consistently ? He was laid back got everything correct and nearly smiled !!  I think it’s fair to say his good performances are few and far and not for the first time I’ve seen him there is ability in him to be one of top refs with performances like today but it doesn’t happen

The penalty decision aside team ref have been the second best team on the pitch

General Discussion / Rob Jones : Plymouth vs Leicester
« on: Fri 12 Apr 2024 21:32 »
Jones is one of my favourite referees but I think he has been poor tonight nearly every bit of contact has been penalised he has resorted to dishing out cards like confetti for the softest of fouls and not shown much man management tonight bad night at the office I’m afraid and still 20 minutes left

A superb performance by the Turkish referee , let the game flow , played good advantages , some good calls and excellent decision making in other words faultless IMO

I be wouldn’t rule out Siebert , granted he hasn’t been good enough IMO , and I think Zwayer has overtaken him for now ,  I would like to see Jose Maria Sanchez Martinez go he’s been excellent when I’ve seen him

Nyberg could be a dark horse and make it onto the definite list he seems highly rated and gets good appointments

His foul detection hasn’t been the best but he’s not been bad but he’s not been great either to be honest he’s had better nights

Agree 100% Madley was spot on to deny the penalty would have been easy to take the easy way out and go by olivers referral

General Discussion / Re: A Taylor - Man City V Arsenal
« on: Sun 31 Mar 2024 20:59 »
Will he be the ref for united Liverpool next weekend?oliver done the reverse, brooks did it 2weeks ago.Taylor or kavanagh for me

I think Taylor is the most likely option but I wouldn’t rule out Pawson or Tierney , Oliver is still in with a shout

If only Taylor refereed like that more often I would then rate him as highly as I rate Oliver today was an absolute masterclass

There is something about Simon Hooper which suggests that he enjoys what he does, knows when to smile and when to put his stern face on. However, I dozed during much of the game and was disappointed with Manchester United. Again. IMHO they produce less than the sum of their parts.

Couldn’t agree more regarding Simon, and yes as a Utd fan I was disappointed but it seems to be the normal these days with Utd , one step forward 10 steps back , Fernandes is not captain material and is in need of a rest
