General Discussion / Re: Pyramid Patrol 2023/24

Many Happy Returns to Umar Ahmed, who, if I understand correctly, is today celebrating his eighth birthday. I hope he has a great day.

Sadly, I have not seen his name in the appoinment lists for some months. Maybe the authorities feel that he is too young, but I fear that it is more likely that dodgy legs may have got the better of him.

i have passed your regards on! he's been out injured much of the season but will hopefully be making an appearance in the next month or so...

"he gets a huge advantage by bringing the arm back towards the ball."

sounds very logical but totally irrelevant in law.

Unfortunately Brych had to go off injured at half time.

ACL injury apparently so looking at an extended period recovering

with your suggestion you'll be adding in yet another decision maker between each level which will result in a huge lack of consistency which i dont like. i would however advocate for sin bins to include deliberate offences such as SPA (need something to disincentivise blatant offences to stop attacks, intentional fouls/shirt pulls etc.)

Only in England could such a ridiculous lottery be in operation, and various crazy systems have operated over the years. Part of the issue is the ever-changing system meaning no stability. The way we manage referees often just makes you shake your head.

and the absolute lack of transparency for both promotions and demotions...

it's a new badge to be worn on steps 3-6 to replace the famoa/3 lions badge previously worn

agree with your last sentence, i want them to say something along the lines of "the ball clearly hits the defenders outstretched arm which is in an unnatural position/making their body bigger. after viewing this footage the decision has been changed to a penalty kick"

as it was it added zero to the game

while leno does touch the ball it is a finger tip touch...and that doesn't = no foul

I do hope you were at Brighouse last night JCFC - sounded incident packed!

if you've seen the incident it's clear that the AR was unsighted (players on the line, ball at the far post and a diving keeper) so it's entirely accurate to say that

good job i was still in my ref kit from my morning junior game, and i'd already made tea and cleaned the kitchen otherwise I may not have got permission from the boss!

must have been a good game to watch, especially the last 20 mins.

I still haven’t seen these penalty decisions on television but live in the stadium the second one appeared to be given because the Napoli forward was, not for the first time, at death’s door after the slightest contact. I can tell you we were so relieved that the award of the penalty restored him to such magnificent health that he was able to spring to his feet and take it himself. It was weak refereeing and ridiculous VAR intervention. Clear and obvious error? Do me a favour.

not much on this earth would convince me to go napoli away...braver man than i

it's never easy to predict where you might show up (unless besides brighouse!) but golcar seemed a fair shout yesterday!

a decent run out for sure and indeed my upside down head is set for life...

cheers!

Nice to see you back with your amusing reports - I particularly enjoy reading about the journeys to and fro each match - they would make good reading on Train websites!!! - it amazes me that you bother sometimes with all the 'obstacles' you have to overcome to actually get to a ground in the first place - I wonder if any of the refs/assistants read your reports -I'm sure they would benefit by so doing

i can assure you there's plenty of refs in the area who do

i suspect many fear JCFCs review more than the observers!! if only we knew where he was in advance...

i feel this may have taken on more significance after last night...
