General Discussion / Fulham vs Man City - Simon Hooper
« on: Sun 30 Apr 2023 16:04 »
Simon has had another very good game today and further shown his huge development. He is a strong ref and isn't tricked like others. Its quite sad how the city players were disrespecting him - especially Grealish - considering he had a very good game and got all the major calls right.

Yes I can see what your saying. At the time the decision looked a lot worse from where I was sitting in the ground and the replays make a bit of a better case for the officials on that particular decision. With it being a sell out crowd and that decision angering the locals it did escalate into quite a feisty and intense game which he dealt with better in the second half than the first in which he struggled to get control of the players

The argument you can make for Millwall is that the GK could see the ball because he dived for it . When the goal went in I didn't see the GK going over to the ref to say his vision was blocked like GK normally do, neither did any of the Sunderland players.

I think the problem that I'm sure Millwall fans see is that yes the man is standing in an offside position but has him being them stopped the GK from seeing the ball the whole way. He appears to see the ball the whole way and saves it . He then spills it which isn't because off the Millwall player being there and then the other player taps home. I guess it depends which side you are on but Millwall were certainly on the wrong side of alot of decisions this afternoon. There were a lot of other decisions during the game that were very inconsistent. I feel too many soft fouls were given and he could've allowed more physicality to go in a game that was very feisty and competitive

My bad I worded poorly which made it seem as if I had heard if myself. I have amended the wording now to avoid confusion.

General Discussion / Thomas Bramall - Millwall vs Sunderland
« on: Sat 04 Feb 2023 19:27 »
Today I was at the Millwall Sunderland game ( as a neutral fan, because i was in London for some work and had free time) and to say the ref had a poor afternoon would be an understatement.

Throughout the game there was an alarming rate of inconsistencies and failure to keep any control and order in the game. The first major decision was a Millwall goal . Originally the linesman didn't flag it and the players went off celebrating. Then the referee has gone to the linesman and appears to have spoke to him about  a Millwall player was obscuring the goalkeepers vision and ruled the goal out. Replays show the keeper sees the ball the whole way and gets fully behind it before spilling into the path of an onside Millwall player. This was where, with a hostile crowd he lost control. There was a fight in the penalty box and just before the stroke off half time a Millwall player went down with what was suspected to be a broken ankle. The ref failed to stop the game when this happened for 20 seconds despite both sets of players screaming at him. The player left the field on a stretcher and is in hospital now. In the second half it got a bit better for him but still performed at a shockingly inconsistent level.

This is the first game I have seen live from Thomas Bramall and it was very disappointing. He seems to struggle to keep control of games and seems as though he is out of his depth ( I expected more from a SG1 official)
