General Discussion / Re: D COOTE - Arsenal v Villa
« on: Sun 14 Apr 2024 18:42 »
I wasn’t too impressed when I seen the appointments on Tuesday and seen Coote on our game, but it was a easy game to referee and no major incidents the only thing I think he missed was a yellow for Carlos for a high boot on Odegaard after giving Gabriel one in the first half, but other than that he was solid and had a good game let it flow I.e with the White shirt pull which was a a yellow and the Rogers one on Saka where he played advantage, although I do think it was a harsh yellow as I thought it wasn’t a foul and was just a collision

General Discussion / Re: Bournemouth v Man Utd - T Harrington
« on: Sun 14 Apr 2024 11:39 »
I only seen the 2 major incidents in this game and I’m not sure how that penalty was awarded to Man Utd for handball it deflected off a Bournemouth player then hit Smith on the arm not quite sure how he could move his arm out the way so no penalty for me, also the overturned penalty for Bournemouth in the last minute I feel shouldn’t of been overturned to me the contact looked like it was on the line so there for a penalty should of been awarded and not overturned

Apparently it wasn’t because the commentators said in commentary that they get a signal in the champions league to see if decisions are getting looked at and they said they never received said signal to see if it was

I’ll tell you why Saka did that instead of scoring, it’s because it’s the Arsenal way and ingrained in the players. On this occasion it has come back to bite them on the bum, and I for one am mightily pleased to see it

Ok then apart from the competition, what was the difference between Saka’s last night and Harvey Elliott’s at the weekend, I thought he manufactured the contact there and it shouldn’t of been a penalty, so if Saka did the same last night and it wasn’t a penalty why wasn’t Anthony Taylor sent to the monitor himself, although he could of been I didn’t see it and overturn his original decision if ours last night was also manufactured contact, we ram about consistency, but concisstency in decisions need to be given screws the board in all competitions not just say the Champions League and have different laws and rules for domestic competitions across all competitions in the world

Great work at the end in not falling for that abysmal attempt at diving by Saka.

It wasn’t an attempt at diving it was a stonewall penalty even an ex Man Utd player said it was a stone wall penalty and before you say I’m being biased Bayerns was a penalty to, Kane should have also of been off for that blatant elbow on Gabriel, thought the occasion got to the referee shouldn’t of had such an inexperienced referee managing a Champions League Quarter Final having only previously done 6 Champions League game need a more experienced referee for the second leg

I certainly will accuse you of bias, and have absolutely no qualms in doing so. Take the red tinted glasses off and have some morals. Arsenal were the most embarrassing team I’ve seen at Fulham this season with their pathetic attempts to constantly deceive the referee, and after watching Ben White and his shocking antics at the weekend and then Saka last night, it appears nothing has changed. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen at other clubs, but Arsenal are by far the worst, lead by that idiot Arteta. Fair play to the other Arsenal fan on this thread for calling Saka out, respect for that. Utterly pathetic attempt by Saka to con the ref and full marks to Nyberg for spotting it. I’ll finish by saying anyone who thinks that was a penalty has zero understanding of football.

I’ve said the Bayern one was a penalty, but I just can’t see how it isn’t a penalty last seconds of the game easier to score no way in hell does Saka fall over to win a penalty over scoring it’s a clear as any as a penalty and if that Liverpool one at the weekend was given and I thought the contact was initiated there then ours last night was a penalty either both should be given or none should be given, and as for Kane he should of been of and the Bayern handball incident for a penalty I originally didn’t see it and thought nothing of it but having seen it should of been given

I will certainly not accuse you of bias, but you are, in my humble opinion, profoundly wrong.

Why would Saka do that literally in the dying seconds of a game when he had a better opportunity to score he wouldn’t it’s a clear foul and a clear penalty but what astounds me the most is it wasn’t even looked at

Excellent game for Coote, has done well this season on the field.  Can’t VAR to save his life but on field he’s been decent overall, sensible referee who won’t fall for Arsenal falling over at every touch I hope!

Brooks needs to turn his form around at City, fingers crossed we get Brooks of the first few months of the year, not of the past week!

Very surprised not to see Andy Madley after a good few games lately.  Don’t PGMOL like officials not overturning at the screen?!

Big game for Robinson at St James Park, can’t let the Newcastle home crowd get to him as so many have this season… Jones, Barrett, Attwell cough cough.

And as if by magic, 2 of the worst dives from Arsenal players you will ever see.  Shameful from Havertz and Saka, absolutely shameful.  Referees have to be as strong as the Swede was tonight.

Expect Saka’s wasn’t a dive it was a stone wall penalty and such an inexperienced referee should not of been on the game a more experienced referee or a premier league referee would of give that

This maybe me with rose tinted glasses on but even with all the replays shown for our penalty that were shown I still couldn’t see where Lamptey touched the ball

Not happy with Anthony Taylor on our game first city at the Etihad, yes I have seen people on here post about the teams the referees support being declared but he is still from Manchester and the game is in Manchester and it could have major implications for the title fight so I feel that a referee from Manchester should not be referring the game

General Discussion / Re: Clement Turpin - Arsenal vs Porto
« on: Wed 13 Mar 2024 15:30 »
Happy with him for this leg as he let the game flow unlike the referee in the first leg, not impressed with Porto’s tactics over the 2 games mind, time wasting after 10 minutes utter joke, maybe this was the only thing he could of clamped down on as there was a couple instances as well where we took ages over throw-ins but Porto was just constantly getting away with it, overall satisfied with his performance and I did comment that I was happier with this referee’s performance to my family in letting it flow and so we could try and play which Porto was content in stopping
On the referees performance, not sure what to say really, was it good or was it not so good?
As for Porto tactics, they have to find a a way to win the game withing the laws of the game and to do so not all teams can play fast flowing, attractive football

Better than the referee he let it flow as I have stated as I thought the first leg referee was whistle happy, and he let the tackles fly in and it was for both sides and he didn’t go to his cards

Mike Dean originally said penalty at first in commentary then they got another angle and it looked like Doku got the ball before the main and he said no penalty on the 2nd replay

It wasn’t a red card he did slide in yes but his foot was low to the ground he was going at speed but I wasn’t shouting at the tv for a red card, it was yellow at best and it’s a yellow he got no complaints from me on that

I think a part of it is and I seen a feature on it on sky sports earlier today, basically the PGMOL are trying to fast track as many diversity referees through the system from grassroots to the premier league so that could have something to do with it
