Should have an international badge at the end of this year. There's a lot of journeymen on the English list who are too old / progressed too slowly to ever make the top bracket. Get him integrated and up the list at the earliest opportunity.

I'd agree. For the Walsall v Stockport game in August there was circa ten minutes stoppage time at the end with no significant injury stoppages. Now I only see more than the par 4/5 minutes if there have been lengthy injury stoppages.

Agreed. In League Two the additional added time went out of the window months ago and you only get more than one or two minutes first half and four or five minutes second if there has been a significant injury.

Non-League / Re: National League Premier (Step 1) - 2023/24

Abi Byrne looked to do a couple of NL games in December as well.

Always thought Copeland was a safe pair of hands at this level and probably better than some who've been elevated to the FL in recent years.

Delighted that Singh Gill gets an all premier league clash.

Why?? Please?

Personally I am not “delighted” as it does seem rather obvious that he is being rushed to the top as quickly as can be done for non referring reasons. That can’t be good for anyone, him, the clubs, the fans.
I am surprised therefore by your delight so hope you won’t get upset with me for asking why. I don’t know whether that’s the etiquette here but you didn’t say.

You can't possibly know that as you have no idea what marks he has been getting.  Sam Barrott has also been rushed to the top very fast, you aren't suggested his progress has been for non-refereeing reasons.

To clarify as this wasn’t made clear earlier I am referring to the Sheffield United game, not Chelsea.
You say I can’t possibly know. I don’t know or claim to know so I agree. You don’t know either. It’s speculation but Allison, Welch, Singh Gill, Howson, Dowle etc etc, I really don’t think it’s an outrageous view to think it probably isn’t a coincidence all relatively at once.

Howson had been around the top end of the Championship for a few years. I have been impressed with what I have seen of the others but they have been elevated fast.

General Discussion / Re: P Howard - Portsmouth v Bolton

Not convinced. I went to a game where the ref warned a keeper on time wasting but then played a minute of stoppage time at the end of the first half. Also there was that crazy Spurs v Chelsea game where around fifteen minutes of stoppage time were indicated and played. Lots of incidents happened in those fifteen minutes like injuries / goals etc but the ref didn't add any extra on when really there should have been another two or three minutes on top of the fifteen.

Something has certainly changed between the start of the season and now as at the start of the season was getting ten minutes of added time sometimes when there'd been no significant injuries. Now we are back to the standard one minute at the end of the first half and three to five at the end of the second more often than not.

Never rated Aaron Jackson from his National North days and look at how some of his peers from those days have progressed since while he has stayed at the same level (Bell, Barrott, Kitchen, Lewis Smith, Tom Parsons, etc)

Attwell did it in his first season on the national list in his first spell

Ross Joyce had a good game in the Stockport v Forest Green match last week. Ditto Carl Brook in the Stockport v Wrexham game a few weeks ago. Light years ahead of the performances from the likes of Matt Corlett earlier in the season.

They shouldn't be refereeing in UAE / Saudi Arabia at all. They get perfectly good money for officiating in the Premier League and should be focussing on their main day job.

The Walsall goalkeeper, Evans was at it with the timewasting the previous week against Stockport and it nearly came back to bite him then too. In fairness Jacob Miles added on ten minutes but why officials don't book them for this early on, I don't know. If they continued after that, show them a second yellow. I am sure it would soon cut out this type of thing.

I wish they would just book goalkeepers for excessive timewasting instead of adding the time on. The minute they are at risk of potentially getting a second yellow which hopefully officials won't shy away from, I am sure they would speed up.

From what I've seen officials have been far happier to show the yellow card for other dissent or timewasting such as kicking the ball away.

I wonder if officials on the talent group will just float around wherever which I think both Nield and Barrott are on. It would kind of defeat the purpose of a group like that if Lewis Smith was officiating in the NL next season when officials who had only done a handful of NL games are now on the Football League list full time.

Swarbrick is VAR on the League Two playoff final so logistically don't think he can do a final day game. Suspect a SG2 referee or even a left field appointment like Barrott will do the Palace v Forest game.
