General Discussion / Re: A Taylor. Forest v Villa
« on: Mon 10 Oct 2022 22:00 »
On the whole superb. There’s no one else who’d I’d rather see referee a niggly game that has the potential to kick off like this than Anthony Taylor. He always seems to do really well in these sort of games e.g Leeds v Derby PO semi final. Only things I would say are Konsa should probably have had a penalty if we’re being consistent as was identical to Jesus’ yesterday. Also on another day Luiz could easily have walked for a headbutt on Johnson which VAR should really have intervened on.
If you want a referee where the game will flow and the referee will blend into the background it’d be Oliver every day, but if you want a referee who will excel in truly horrid games to referee it’d be Taylor every time.
Taylor has had a really good season up to now along with Oliver hope they both keep this up going into the WC.

How Xhaka isn't booked for his antics I don't know. Thats too incredibly soft penalties he has given in the last two games. Absolutely pathetic.

Yet another big game ruined by a shocking performance from an official.

What planet was Darren England on at Shockley park
Clear to see who you support JackSamuel, every time Liverpool lose you come on here complaining about the officials. I don’t think Oliver had a great game today but to say it was the worst performance of the season is a bit ott personally. Also maybe look closer to home when blaming people as Liverpool certainly weren’t great and Arsenal were fully deserving of the victory.

General Discussion / Howard Webb Interview
« on: Sun 04 Sep 2022 14:02 »
Came across this interview with Howard last night and it appears that it’s a regular thing across the pond.
Hope Webb brings this openness and honesty over here
Found what he about 20 minutes onwards about the accountability and giving his officials the confidence to be able to overturn their decisions really interesting, especially after the farce of yesterday’s matches.

General Discussion / Re: Robert Jones- Brentford v Leeds

Agreed. I actually thought he was looking at a potential penalty for handball, which I could understand a little bit, but he gives it for the foul by Sinisterra, that's never a foul in a million years. Not sure who the VAR was

David Coote
That explains it all

General Discussion / Robert Jones- Brentford v Leeds
« on: Sat 03 Sep 2022 17:56 »
I have to be careful with what I say here but that was shocking from Jones and VAR today.
The sooner a referee has the nerve to stick with his decision at the monitor the better as personally if you have to look at it for more than a minute then it’s not a clear and obvious error.
Then in the second half there was what I believe was a clear foul on Summerville as he ran into the box not given, although it started outside it continued into the area which unless the law has changed is a penalty.
Also the main gripe I have is whenever I see Jones in the last year or two which has been a fair bit there is no clear line for what is and isn’t a foul which leads to players getting frustrated which was the case again today.
However I can’t excuse Marsch’s conduct as however frustrated you get you can’t act like that towards the officials and Jones had every right to bin him.
Although Leeds were the victim of our own downfall in that second half especially we certainly weren’t helped by the officials and VAR’s performance today.

Outstanding, our top official by a mile and has been for a few years now.

General Discussion / Anthony Taylor- Sweden v Norway
« on: Sun 05 Jun 2022 20:48 »
It appears Anthony Taylor has unfortunately made another poor PK decision as it’s clear as day that no foul has been committed here.
However is it any wonder we have no English VAR’s going to the World Cup when Attwell doesn’t intervene here. Terrible from all involved.

Premier League refereeing standards are at a very low standard atm and it is summed up when one of our supposed elite officials can’t recognise that as SFP, a problem that English officials on the whole have had for a good few years now which is down to rubbish coaching in my opinion and that comes from the top but sadly it doesn’t look like that’ll change any time soon.
I like Anthony Taylor as a referee most of the time and on his day he can be world class however it feels like more often than not we’re talking about an error from him or him having to go to VAR atm as with the missed penalty at West Ham at the wknd and the Ayew tackle tonight, these are things an elite official should be getting right in my personal opinion.
Hopefully he can get this bumpy season out the way and hit the ground running next season especially with him attending the WC later this year.

General Discussion / Mike Dean- Leeds v Brighton
« on: Sun 15 May 2022 16:24 »
Superb from the card shark for the final time in the premier league if rumours are to be believed.
Once again today was outstanding from start to finish as he has been for most of his 22 years in the top flight.
The premier league and PGMOL will be a worse place without his experience and quality as a referee.

General Discussion / Re: A MARRINER - Sheff U v Forest
« on: Sat 14 May 2022 17:32 »
Masterclass in officiating from one of England’s top three officials in my opinion. He may not have the legs though he never has done tbh but he uses his experience so well.
Thank god he’s carrying on for at least another season as he really is top class.

General Discussion / Arsenal v Leeds- Chris Kavanagh
« on: Sun 08 May 2022 17:20 »
Had a good game on the whole apart from the lack of recognition of SFP on the shocking tackle by our supposed captain Ayling who I doubt will play for Leeds again. Refs in this country at all levels seem to have a hard time detecting SFP though probably even more so in the football league. If that was on the continent I guarantee the red would’ve been out before the ref had stopped blowing his whistle. Also only 3 mins added time at the end of the game considering there was 4 subs and an injury to Martinelli was puzzling. Though it seems refs don’t know how to stop their watches in this country as its every game.

General Discussion / Football Commentators and Pundits
« on: Wed 04 May 2022 20:41 »
Doubt I’m in the minority here but I’m absolutely fed up of decisions being given correctly by the officials and the commentators and pundits not having a clue what the laws are. Foden pulled back by Casemiro but advantage played by Orsato who’s having a good game as usual, but obviously a spa can’t be a caution when advantage is played now and has been this way for a few seasons. It infuriates me when these so called experts on tv are just saying things that just aren’t correct in law. It should be compulsory for all pundits and commentators to pass a LOTG exam every season before being allowed on tv to spout their usual drivel.

General Discussion / Re: P TIERNEY - Leeds v Man City
« on: Sat 30 Apr 2022 18:36 »
I like to think I’m quite balanced on this forum but I’m tbh a bit disgusted with that performance from Tierney and it isn’t the first time I’ve seen it this season he was the same against Man Utd earlier in the season. I’m all for letting the game flow which I know Tierney does like to do but there’s no clear line in what is and isn’t a foul. The tackle by Fallas that led to the free kick wasn’t a foul in my opinion, but tbh Dallas was lucky to escape with a yellow in that half just hoping his injury isn’t as bad as appears. Don’t even get me started on Neville’s comments saying he’s brought it on himself disgusting thing to say. Tierney though needs to improve and quickly as that was diabolical for both teams.

One of the performances of the season, was superb and was helped by two teams that wanted to play football. He deserves either UEL or UECL final. The only downside was he wore yellow which I’m sure would’ve disappointed a certain person😉.
