Heel looked like it was just touching the line

2
He hasn't won the ball the ball may have glanced off him but the player he hacks down is getting the next touch if he isn't taken out

3
Looking at the replay unless the referee has blown for the offside before the flag has gone up then it should have been a penalty, trip happens before the linesman raises the flag.

4
Canada should have had another penalty for a clumsy trip by the Belgian defender

5
I will say Iím glad to see fifa are cutting down on time wasting, we need to bring this timekeeping back to England

6
Based on Iran's penalty yesterday had to be given but really soft again

7
So it spotted something outside of its remit and decided to take action anyway, can only guess the ref decided it was handball and a foul before but that would raise questions about the earlier handball

8
I thought var isn't there for a free kick in your own box

Clear penalty missed by var, on field can be forgiven but how do you have the option to look and decide no

And if we want better referees it would help if people didn't keep defending the indefensible which happens on a regular basis. This was a penalty as was the one which this same official failed to give when Wilson was taken down at Old Trafford on Sunday.

No, we don't need to defend the indefensible. What we do need to do is look at the mistakes when they occur (and I really don't think this is one) and try to understand why they occurred. One of the reasons is undoubtedly the amount of deception that goes, some of it without doubt practised, which makes the job exponentially harder. It must be really hard to spot some of this as this particular incident has clearly fooled quite a few people.
Then referees need to start giving more penalties like Chelsea got in the champions league, clear foul yet everyone is in shock it was given because itís known unless you go down you get nothing.

If you think bringing down a player in the box is fine then you are part of the problem

Sure if it was a fitness thing but he is stood looking at a clear foul, I'd expect anyone in the local care home to see that stevie wonder would have

The attack was a direct result of him missing a clear foul so yes he cab be blamed for it

Really bailing blackburn out, denied a clear penalty for sunderland leading to blackburn scoring

Here's a replay, ref has a clear view and doesn't give it

It seemed to miss an offside in the build up to the penalty so itís still not working

If that happens anywhere else on the pitch a foul is given and nobody complains
