I was friends with FL referee Jack Cooke and used to go to matches with him sometimes.  Though I was not with him at the time he was embroiled in a similar incident at Norwich when he blew for time as the ball was goal bound so the goal did not stand.   I am going back to the mid 1960s

I have always been surprised (well, not really) by how many officials who get promoted have jobs within football already

We moan about the press and TV criticising officials, sometimes its just as bad on here.  As far as I was concerned the match was perfectly well controlled with no major mistakes and if it had been a high profile official like Michael Oliver everyone would be saying how well a difficult match was run

Don't think anyone takes too seriously anything Mr Hackett comes out with

I have never understood how he got to the level he did and as far as I am concerned he was  no more that a mediocre referee was ever lucky to get on EFL.  Didnt seem to have any personality and always looked as miserable as you know what

Is this really genuine.  Would this be made public in this way?

I'm sure Dave he will welcome your advice and heed it

Someone comes on here and makes themselves look a fool because in fact it is them and not the referee who does not know the laws but they do not have the grace to come back and apologise and admit they are wrong

Might that have been the rule of the Scottish Fa and he thought it was the same here?

Quiet calm style just how it should be.  52 now so wonder if it might be his last season

Why can't people be more polite and start the topic off with 'Michael Oliver ' and not just 'Oliver'

Who was the lino nearest the camera around the 18th minute who almost comically gave a goal kick instead of a corner

Obviously message not conveyed to the players at one or two games tonight
