Football League - L1 & L2 / Re: Sat 21st – Tue 24th AUG 2021

She got taken off a game at the weekend, so I suspect she's either injured, ill or been pinged.

Rebecca has unfortunately had COVID and had it quite bad, so is still recovering. She hasnt had a chance to do the fitness test or anything yet so will be a few weeks at least before we see her

Surely if she'd not passed the fitness test they would not have appointed her in the first place?

Nestor Pitana in the Copa America. Brazil on a promising attack ball hits him and goes to a Brazilian player. Should a drop ball have been awarded?

If the ball touches the referee or another match official and goes into the goal, or results in a change of possession or a promising attack, a dropped ball will be awarded.

Looking at the above wording. Goal bit not applicable. No change of possession. So that leaves the promising attack element. Brazil were on a promising attack which imo would have probably stopped until ball hit the referee. Then definitely a promising attack continued. I think should have been a drop ball. Thought?

General Discussion / Israeli Cup Final VAR AGAIN

Hope the club were punished severely for this.

The video is about halfway down

Could have been about 5/6 red cards looking at it. The first before he ever got to monitor when he was soaked with water.

He remained composed though

Very interesting situation here. I can't recall a GK saving 3 times being off his line all 3 times and ending up sent off. Fair play to the commentator who knew the laws of the game it would appear.

General Discussion / Re: Mason to retire after this season

Not my favorite referee. But he has had a long career and I wish him well in his new role as dedicated VAR

Very interesting to see the dedicated VAR officials comment as from next season. I wonder who will be on that panel or however it's set up?

General Discussion / Re: Break away Super League

Could be a nice feisty affair for Anthony Taylor tonight especially given the tee shirts Leeds have worn. Good luck to him.

As for the Super League what a disgrace!!

I think it says more tbh of the poor management of referees in this country. Too many being kept on now beyond an age when some should have retired but we now have the added complication of employment law. Referees in England in my opinion have been kept on too long and we are now suffering from a system that has so many levels it's ridiculous and then there's no gaps for any new ones to progress. I said this to people years ago when the likes of Hackett, Cortney Milford etc. were still reffing. I believe this is why we're behind Germany, Spain etc. with the number of elite refs because when they've overcome all the levels they're almost already too old for FIFA.

Incidentally Craig had a semi 3 years after making the PL and Chris is 4 years in. So I'm not sure it says anything about either ref but a lot about the poor management of refs in England over  the last 40 years. I also think most here would believe that for Covid Craig would have had last seasons FA Cup Final and I also somewhere have in the back of my mind that a referee had to have done their domestic highest games including Cup Final before becoming elite. Though I could have made that up

Having watched Mr Grinfeld from Israel Mr Hategan from Romania and Mr Marciniak from Poland I fail to see how any of those are better than Craig Pawson.
