This season reminds me of the 2013-14 season, where Liverpool and Man City tussled for the title, but incorrect refereeing decisions over the course of the season placed Man City top.

does that include the penalty city should have had at anfield in the final few mins of the 3-2?

City shouldn't have had a penalty in that game, but over the course of the season, incorrect decisions hampered Liverpool a lot more than City, which if they would have gone in Liverpool's favour, Liverpool lift the league, not City.

city should have...?

suspect it has more to do with liverpool bottling it once they'd 'won' it but hey ho

If it weren't for incorrect decisions (including a six-point swinger), Liverpool would have had more points on the board and City would have had less.

Can anyone explain how Liverpool weren't given a free kick for Lyanco's blatant foul on Jota, which started the build up to the Southampton goal.

I agree with all the comments here, great team performance by the officials, if only it was always like this.

A mod/admin may as well change the title from "Jon Moss Aston Villa v Liverpool" to "Complete Shambles - Aston Villa v Liverpool". I agree with Comeonref about the erratic foul detection, but lets not forget, not one, but two Aston players standing in offside positions in the build-up to their goal.

I agree about all the comments about Tierney not being good enough, it is also him who's poor decisions have had most of an effect on the title race, I'd say his calls (Jota penalty not given and Rodri Handball Penalty not given) make him more droppable for what Kevin Friend was dropped for.

Does anybody think that Laporte's challenge on Jota should have been a penalty? When watching the replay, I seen that when Laporte slid in, his foot landed somewhere, then the ball hit his foot just after, which means the ball hits his foot, not him getting the ball.

It seems to me that David Coote is refereeing fifty or sixty years too late from what I'm reading.

The sooner that it is considered to be too risky to have Stuart Attwell and Sian Massey-Ellis refereeing matches either in the middle, or via VAR, the better, at least Sian Massey-Ellis is competent when brandishing the offside flag, the numbers board is Stuart Attwell's level, and this is from him having an OK cup final as well.

As Mike Dean, (the card shark), why didn't he consider that even a booking?

First Spurs v Liverpool, now Everton v Man City, perhaps they can't handle the big games, also, without implying anything, it could be these two officials and their decisions have almost single handedly decided the title race.

Seriously, how can things like this be missed?  By both the on field officials and VAR.

Mane and Mount lucky not to have seen red, apart from that. a well refereed game of football.

I thought it was, as each time I've seen a goalkeeper handball outside of the box it has been a red card.

Do the goalkeeping laws need changing?

Why is it a mandatory red card for handball outside of the box when actual fouls like

Pickford on Van Dijk

Ederson on Fraser

Ederson on Odegaard

have gone completely unpunished.

I would suggest incidents like the ones above, automatic penalty and a red card (like it is for outfield players) and goalkeeper handball outside the box should be a yellow card.
