International Appointments / Re: UEFA Europa League 2025/2026
« on: Tue 27 Jan 2026 11:18 »
Surprised there is only var involvement for the english contingent.
I guess that with only Oliver in the champions league final group games it probably says that our officials are not in favour with uefa.
I guess the pgmol going their own way on guidelines and interpretations doesnt help either.
Idk about that. Kavanagh got a nice few games in UCL considering he was only promoted a few weeks ago.
Taylor had a decent game last week and there is no elites in Europa league this week so brooks was only option and he had a game last week.

Gillett bankes second legs and Harrington final🤔.
All 3 are in with shout of final and other 2 semis based on form

Brooks will get one, they always involve the previous year's referee in the semi finals in someway shape or form. Oliver Taylor and Kav will be at that Elites course on the week of the 2nd legs so choices are limited. Perhaps Pawson, or Attwell?
first time for everything for me to get a prediction somewhat right 😂😂(or first part of it amyway)

Yep thought he was excellent myself.both sides looking for soft frees all the time but gillett did well not to bow to them all the time…
People saying inconsistent compared to other games but anyone who watched him since he returned from Arab cup he’s prob been top 3 most consistent keeping the high threshold

4
Great that gillett was supported for intervening in Paris last week

5
Fair play Farai Hallam. Great call imo to reject the review. If it was champions league it would be handball but not enough in the prem when it’s kicked straight at hin close distance.

On second thoughts I’m having doubts.looks like Mosquera puts his hand out towards ball from a different angle…
Tricky one

Gary Beswick has replaced James Mainwaring on Fulham v Brighton
Been a long time since he had the yellow flag

7
Michael Owen thought yellow card and it is inaccurate to say all ex pros thought it red.
Okay. All but 1 ex-pro that I have seen has said red card……
neville…
He coudln't make his mind up. He flip-flopped between what he thought about it.
on the podcast after he said again yellow was correct decision

Michael Owen thought yellow card and it is inaccurate to say all ex pros thought it red. Last night on match officials mic'd up Webb persuasively argued that the referee's call was correct. The United player made a genuine attempt to play the ball and actually made contact. The follow through was from an almost stationary position and therefore without excessive force. Full speed replays support this. In fact I am not sure if I would use the word reckless in the strictest sense. A misjudgement yes, a painful outcome but hardly violent. Yellow yes and for clear reasons.
I felt Taylor's response when VAR supported his call was amusing. A little stuffy, irritated perhaps as if to say how could you question my decision? It suggests that it would take a strong VAR to challenge an onfield decision taken by Taylor!
maybe I’m wrong but I thought Taylor was just trying to tell the players that var confirmed his assessment

No disrespect but I’m not impressed with Pawson having such a big game , at times he gets flustered and is easily swayed . That said I hope he has a good game though.  Hallam is a surprising appointment .
same. Not overly impressed atall woth this appointment.theres 8/9 names of have ahead of him atm.if this was earlier in season when he was gling well I’d have no problem

11
Should have a different observer for makkelie gsme.dallas observing while Andrew on avar surely isn’t right..

12
Ya probably acc.although Taylor had United stephens day and today.

13
Based on these appointments it’s got to be Kav for Arsenal United doesn’t it..

14
I think red is better but not a clear and obvious error to go with yellow. The tackle is high but definitely no excessive force
nail on the head here

15
Decent from Taylor.missed one or 2 things but good performance.
