For interaction purposes, what are our best moments on this game so far?
So far, Kavanagh has been slammed by managers twice (not physically, just in the media!) and Sam Barrott is flying on the merit table, with Kavanagh, Davies and Howard taking the crown in my VAR Merit tables!
Tim Robinson being my top referee after 3 game weeks 😂

I believe that’s an EFL debut for Emily Heaslip - with 2 games!
Crewe with Stephen Parkinson, who has already refereed this fixture last season, and Steven Copeland, who gave Crewe a penalty last season at home to Notts County which was ludicrous!
I'm hoping to see a better performance from Stephen Parkinson than when I last saw him at Crewe Alex.
Apologies for the use of the Old emoji, AT, it was uninentional. The two games Mr Parkinson was in the middle for Rovers games, he has not impressed and made a KMI error missing handball in the build-up to the Milton Keynes goal On the highlights footage, the Walsall opener looked well offside and the penalty call was as bad as the one Sam Mulhall gave for Oldham against Rovers in near identical circumstances. At least you had the small consolation of the keeper saving it.
Like I said, I was stood directly behind AR2 - he wasn’t in line. I shouted offside straight away

I don’t see a problem with that.
In the Chelsea v Newcastle topic the referee, players from both sides and a manager are all referred to by just surname. No one seems to have raised an issue.
I think OwdReds is referring to the title of the discussion

Even when we disagree strongly with a referee's decisions please can we give them the courtesy of using their full name rather than just Kirk?
I was also going to point this out!

Crewe are awfully inconsistent at the moment….
That’s been our issue all season. (And in fact for the majority of Lee Bell’s reign as manager). We either play really well or crap. There’s no inbetween. To put it straight - we aren’t getting playoffs. Some questionable tactical decisions too have cost us games. (And playing hoofball which never works)

Crewe Alexandra FC (First Team) v Walsall FC (First Team) Football League 2 Referee: Parkinson, Stephen Assistant Referee: Smith, Daniel Assistant Referee: Guest, Danny Fourth Official: Mustafa, Zharir
It’s only half time, and already an extremely poor half by all 4 officials. The Walsall goal was at least 2 yards offside - I was directly in line with it. Then the Walsall penalty was a fantastic tackle by our keeper, thank god it was saved. Never a pen. Only 1 min added was extremely poor too. Considering how long the pen took to take and then the Walsall goal including time wasting, I expected 4.
Needs to be a much better half as Crewe’s faithful are already extremely annoyed.
This trend continued in the second half, absolutely woeful. Such a stop start game all caused by him. Every time someone went down he gave it. Didn’t cut down on any time wasting whatsoever, and let Walsall players walk from one side of the pitch to the other for a sub. Crewe had 4 corners all game, and all 4 he gave a foul against us. One of them all Crewe players were stood there so confused, I certainly hadn’t seen anything!
Something Stephen needs to learn is that football is a contact sport and isn’t netball therefore not every bit of contact results in a foul. There’s a lot more things I could say….
Abysmal is not even close. A generous 2/10 because had a whistle and didn’t wear y*llow!
I'm entirely in agreement with your assessment of Mr Parkinson. I could not believe it when the 1st Walsall goal was allowed, it looked oh-so-offside, but it was down to AR2 Danny Guest to raise his flag, and the lack of protest from the Crewe players seemed to suggest that I/we were missing something or maybe the Crewe players were too shell-shocked to protest. The Walsall penalty was frankly a joke in my view, the Crewe goalie had his hands on the ball for goodness sake. 2nd half Mr Parkinson was a bit better, but some of his decisions were still frankly soft or a mystery to me. One positive, I thought the yellow cards were all justified and I liked the colour of his shirt. Mr Parkinson can't be blamed for Crewe's abject performance but I was hoping to see better from him this afternoon and in this, I was disappointed. PS I got soaked on the walk home, so not a good end to the afternoon!
Ironically, as I work at Crewe, I was directly behind AR2 when the Walsall opening goal went in. He was not even in line! 100% offside. A very very poor decision that set the tone for the rest of the game… I also got soaked on the way home! Considering no rain was due 😂

Agree regards the comment to the pen.
3 mins added?? Between the time the ref gave the pen and Kai Havertz scored was 2 mins!

Agree - one for the stat people. Has a cup final been given to a Semi Final 2nd leg ref before?
I asked the trusty old ChatGPT, and apparently it’s never happened before in our domestic cups that it can recall. An example on the international stage is Tori Penso who, at the 2023 Women’s World Cup, refereed the semi final between Australia and England, and then the final between Spain and England.

The team at Burnley looks like Carabao Cup final to me. I’m not sure why they’ve changed Gillett and Bankes unless they’re keeping Gillett out of action this weekend. If it is then Bankes is as equally deserving.
Tom Kirk takes a trip to the Stadium of Light and then has an excellent 4O at Old Trafford.
Paul Tierney takes a good game at Stamford Bridge.
Good to see Oliver and Taylor back as well.
I think you mean an excellent 4O at Anfield!

With a FIFA badge too?
With her fifa badge being in the women’s game, I don’t think so. I don’t recall Kirsty Dowle or Abi Bryne having their fifa badges on during efl games, but I can be corrected.
