If he were to give a penalty , he would still have to red card for DOGSO as the player did not attempt to play the ball.

I agree with him bringing back the original foul and a free kick/ red card.

Good to see a decent smattering of Sussex FA promotions…. Definitely some work to be done to get more Southern officials up the ladder and into the main refereeing categories.

Come on Sussex !!!!!

RIP Gary. He was my coach this season in my local CORE group and what a wonderful person he was, inside and out. A fountain of knowledge and a lovely, kind human. He will be deeply missed.

He appears to be 4th official for Doncaster Vs Sunderland soon.

Did Emily and Amy Fern swap at half time ? Amy Fern was down to referee the game and looking at the highlights, it doesn’t look like Emily Heaslip in the first half. I may be wrong !

General Discussion / Re: Anthony Taylor: Arsenal v Liverpool

I thought Taylor was good. I only tuned in for the last 30 minutes, but thought he did very well. He is probably the best we have in this country currently.

A thing I have noticed - his whistle is always so sharp ! I find no other PL referees have a whistle as clear, sharp and loud as his. Anyone got any ideas as to how his is far superior ?😂

Indeed it did ! I was there to witness it. Mr Lamping had a fine game and managed it well. He seems to be a well respected, young level 3 coming through the ranks.

Nope 👎 but it was the third colour- but just not possible in this game unless Mr Barrott would like to play for the seagulls 😁

Darren Cann with 3 correct, fantastic and tight offside calls.

General Discussion / Re: John brooks- palace v Brighton

As a Brighton fan- it really bugged me how Van Hecke ran towards Brooks and started putting his hands on his head and acting like Brooks was deluded when he didn’t give the penalty. Brooks was right and could have potentially cautioned Hindhelwood for simulation ? Dunk didn’t help either when you could see he ran to Brooks and started saying ‘ref, ref’ over and over. Clearly wanting a penalty. Yet it was our player who tripped over his own feet 🤦‍♂️

Wilson just said ‘f*ck off’ and then said f*ck off man’ whilst waving his arms about to Jarred Gillet. No card. Disappointing to say the least.

I can see why he gave a second yellow card, but it didn’t look like a shirt pull and he gestured it was for a shirt pull. That’s not a great look. I think the safest option would just be to say he tripped up the Crystal Palace player?

I took a look through PGMOL posts on social media and they released the list of national group referees operating in league one and two for the upcoming season. Rob Lewis is on there!
So he will still be refereeing and he will mix that in with being a referee coach for level 2A’s I presume?

Maybe one week refereeing, and one week coaching?
