I have a degree of Sympathy with the Palmer caution and not playing advantage as the ball is just about to be released by Raya as he blew.

With the Neto one didn't Andrew Kitchen have a similar incident in the Man Utd v West Ham game where he played advantage rather than issue the 2nd caution to Wan- Bissaka? If I remember then the general consensus was that play should of been stopped and Wan-Bissaka sent off.

On a side note Neto's behaviour after being sent off was disgraceful, took ages to leave the field and was still having a moan at Stuart Attwell before making his way down the tunnel.

General Discussion / John Beaton. Aberdeen V Motherwell
« on: Thu 19 Feb 2026 06:18 »
A busy night for Mr Beaton  with 3 red cards, two after VAR interventions. The first two are nailed on red cards, one for DOGSO and another for SFP however I think the 3rd one is harsh given distance from goal and the potential covering defenders. This is one of the VAR reviews, would  be interesting to hear people's opinions. (Hope the link works.)

General Discussion / Re: C PAWSON - Liverpool v Man City
« on: Mon 09 Feb 2026 08:13 »
When the incident happened with DS and EH I was in the camp give the goal and play on but when you break it down there is no other option really but to disallow the goal especially as it could have potential ramifications later in the season.

Credit to John Brooks on VAR and I might be being slightly harsh on Craig Pawson here but I'm surprised he didn't blow for the foul by Haaland as the ball went it to the net.

The yellow card for Guehi was correct, just a shame about the way both sets of players were crowding round Pawson moaning about the decision.

Yes there is contact but I don't think the contact has impacted the attacker playing the ball as he wouldn't of got there before it went out of play.

I would rather Tierney just gave a goal kick and played on, not a foul or simulation for me.

Excellent decison for the disallowed goal, Armstrong clearly attempts to play the ball so would of had an impact on the villa defence in my opinion.

Garner was lucky not to see a 2nd yellow, no attempt to play the ball and it was hardly a subtle shove on Rogers. The challenge by Rhol I'm surprised Harrington was not sent to the screen to review it as you could say that the challenge endangered the safety of Maastsen.

General Discussion / Re: Tom Kirk - Everton v Wolves
« on: Thu 08 Jan 2026 19:36 »
I have a slight bit of Sympathy for Michael Keane as I don't think it was meant as act of Violence, unlike the Jack Stephens and Romero incidents on Cucurella, however the precedent has been set, you'll pull some one by the hair it's a red card.

Grealish can have no complaints its one of the most blatant acts of dissent I've seen and Tom Kirk needs to be applauded for dealing with it correctly.

Hopefully he is backed by the PGMOL and has another premier league game sooner rather than later.

I was at the game in the away end so couldn't possibly comment on the potential DOGSO as it was up the other end of the ground.

I thought David Webb contributed to what was a very good game of football. Yes his tolerance was high for giving fouls but was the same for both sides but this allowed the game to flow. Certainly not a bad performance by any stretch of the imagination.

My only point would be is this was his 3rd Swansea  league game already this season and its only matchweek 13.

Select Group 2 / Re: Fri 3rd - Sun 5th Oct 2025

Bit surprised to see David Webb back at Swansea only 21 days after his previous visit.
Great appointment for Tom Kirk, was expecting someone like Andrew Kitchen or Josh Smith to pick up that game.

Atrocious form Glova and his VAR.

Agree with what's been already said was the best communications between officals we've seen and looks like it's improving long may this continue.
Excellent, excellent input from Sian Massey-Ellis. Gillet doesn't seem to be the strongest on VAR.
Agree the show probably needs to be extended to an hour. I would of like to of seen/heard the audio of the Man City penalty at Chelsea as I still think.its a foul by Haaland first

Is Akil Howson FIFA listed? Thought he only got promoted to SG1 in the summer.

Harsh. 6 of one half a dozen of the other. Poor from  Taylor there.

Oliver at the Emirates for the 3rd time this season which means so far he would of refereed 50% of there home league games.

General Discussion / Re: M OLIVER - Tottenham v Chelsea
« on: Tue 07 Nov 2023 05:42 »
Wow! Where to start with this one. I think Oliver had a very good game and the rest of the refereeing team were pretty much flawless.
The Undogie first tackle I think is correct the fact touches the ball and hardly makes contact with Sterling saves him from being sent off.
Romeo kick out I agree with VAR it's petulant rather than violent.
Romeo Red card, although I have a degree of sympathy with Romero as he did win the ball but as
Jamie Carragher said you can't tackle like that theese days.
I did like how Oliver called Son over before issuing the RC to explian his decision although Son can count himself a little lucky not to get a YC for dissent.
Burt and Cookwere excellent 2nd half with all the tight offsides they had to call.

Very good tonight I thaught. Tried to let the game flow. I think Hughes should of been cautioned for his tackle on Van de Ven in the first half.
Think the Palace goal looked handball especially at full speed to me, so surprised he wasn't sent over to have a look himself. Overall a very decent showing from the officials.
