General Discussion / Re: Soccer Aid for UNICEF

Roy Keane on Soccer Aid:

They asked me to manage the Rest of the World team? I couldn't say no quickly enough.

Kids blowing horns, women screaming, it's like hell on earth. Its like a who's who of Cretins.

Charging folk £50 to watch John Bishop and Jack Whitehall run around like a couple of gimps on acid.

It's immoral, and don't get me started on Jonathan Wilkes. Famous? For What, wiping Robbie Williams arse !!

I'm amazed that fat James Corden wasn't involved. I don't care if it's for charity. They should be grateful they can't get TV in Uganda.

General Discussion / Larne vs. Glentoran - James Robertson
« on: Sun 27 Apr 2025 22:27 »
Four players sent-off after the final whistle - Larne's Aaron Donnelly and Conor McKendry, and Fuad Sule and Christie Pattison of Glentoran - are sent off after a post-match brawl following the side's goalless draw at Inver Park in the Irish Premiership.

I'll have to say the referee handled this incident quite poorly. A lot was going on following the player coming on to assault the Larne captain. So to then start marching around brandishing red cards to players showed poor judgment. Observe from the periphery, and submit an extraordinary incident report post-match and let the authorities (Irish FA) identify the guilty parties via TV footage.

General Discussion / Re: Josh Smith : Blackburn vs Preston
« on: Sat 01 Feb 2025 12:35 »
If you're going to award a penalty for the head-on-head collision, Smith must have deemed it a foul. If it was a foul, it must surely be a red card for serious foul play, as Whatmough has endangered the opponent's safety.

Otherwise, I would leave it alone and treat it as an accidental head-on collision. Get the physio on and restart with a drop ball to the GK.

Charles Breakspear has been out for a while but has refereed this season.

Last seen putting his bins out in Maidenhead.

General Discussion / Re: Worrying Info

A case in Lancashire where a player barged a referee to the floor in a Sunday League game, led to the player being suspended for seven (7) years this week.

We have to be tough on violence not only towards referees, but in general.

Ref card for SFP. A dangerous raking stud challenge on the calf/achilles. Whether there’s enough contact is irrelevant. Intent✅ Speed✅ Brutality✅
