Mr Backhouse at Mansfield v Bolton should have a good look at this one and ask why no one in the ground, including the players and staff of both teams, thought he had a good game.  Some bizzare decison making throughout.  First half payed an advantage to Bolton, player shot, hit a Mansfield player and he then pulled it back for the free kick.  Mr Clough clearly wanted to know why.  There were a couple of coming together of players where he then booked both players but the second time Mr Lewis of Mansfield did absolutley nothing and got booked.  Even more bizzare on this incldent was Mr Bowery of Mansfield had just put in a terrible challange that was a a caution all day but Mr Backhouse forgot this and just dealt with the aggresive Bolton player (and Lewis).  Mansfield had a very good penalty claim when Mr Evans was tripped but it was waved away.  Im sure Mr Assessor in the stand will want to know why Mr Backhouse and his assistant did'nt give it.  Very inconsistent fould detction and really not a good day at the office for the Aldi middle aisle Steve Martin wannabe.

For me it speaks volumes there isn’t a single comment on here about Tim’s performance on Monday night,  Forest v Palace. I was at the game and thought he was excellent. Really pleased for him, great guy.

Mansfield Town F.C. (First Team) v Burton Albion FC (First Team)
Football League 1
Referee: Purkiss, Sam
Assistant Referee: Aylott, Andrew
Assistant Referee: Williams, Ollie
Fourth Official: Rollason, Greg

Sam refereed in his usual calm unfussy manner and got around the pitch really well.  Players responded positively to his manner and a fairly easy call on the penalty.  However, the performance from the senior assistant Mr Aylott did raise some concersn for me.  He appeared more interested in trying to have banter with the players than focusing on the second rear most defender, the players obviously not interested.  Nearly always behind play, issues started in the first minute when his arm appeared fixed to the ground when he didnt flag for an easy throw and waited an age for the referee who was rightly waiting for him.  I was'nt in line so couldnt comment if a ball was over the line for a goal, it did look so ,but the assistant was nowhere in line to make a credible decision.  There were two offsides he missed, I was in line for those, he wasnt.  Appeard to be late to react to play on all occasions, perhaps a refresh of his sprint reaction training is needed.  Im sure the assessor will have noted all of this.

French player treated on field but doesn’t go off for 30 seconds. Any reason why?

More concerned the first goal wasn’t seen as offside.  Sheff Utd player clearly in line of site when stood offside

Re the penalty.  From what I can tell from the tv the defender never leaves the area so how can it have been outside the box.
