General Discussion / S ATTWELL - Brentford v Wolves
« on: Mon 16 Mar 2026 20:49 »
Looks like everyone has missed a deliberate backpass to the Wolves goalie, which started the move which lead to the Wolves goal.

Can VAR get involved with backpasses picked up which leads to a goal.

Is this a clear and obvious error to not penalise the Wolves keeper for picking it up?

Could Kettle be reincarnated 😂.

Bit surprised to see gillett out again.
Was it his form that got him taken off cup final?

Yes, I am very surprised to see Jared Gillett's name as we assume he was injured and thus taken off the Carabao Final. Perhaps the wrong tree was being barked up and Peter Bankes was to have the honour all the time.

To coin civil legal terminology, I think on the balance of probabilities it was more likely than not that Gillett was lined up for it, but maybe a last minute hitch or niggle has meant he was changed.

If there was any hint of an injury, the time was spot on, i.e now, to alter the appointment for the final.

I’d also be very happy to see Hallam appointed to Fulham soon.. he is head and shoulders above the majority of SG2 in my opinion.

General Discussion / Re: Paul Tierney - Chelsea vs Newcastle
« on: Mon 16 Mar 2026 17:46 »
Hackett has been shouting out saying Tierney should have carded the Chelsea captain before the match for the centre circle cuddles he was caught up in…

“I was disappointed by Tierney’s reaction. He appeared to be caught by surprise, but he shouldn’t have been because he’s been around for a long time.

“My reaction would have been to get the yellow card out, issuing that to the captain. It seemed a little pre-planned by Chelsea. It was unacceptable.”

I do fear with no Italians involved on field in this match week that they are being saved for the latter stages.

After the dross we saw from them in the last few weeks, it’ll be a real kick in the teeth to the other officials who should be there on performance, and not based on Rosetti and his fellow countrymen.

International Appointments / Re: UEFA Europa League 2025/2026

Thank you for colouring in!!

Big game for Salisbury at Ipswich too… a game that was always going to attract some heavy artillery.

9
No surprise whatsoever to see Oliver and Taylor where they are this weekend…

10
Marciniak at Anfield was rather expected given the paths to the next round and the importance of the tie.

I’m still baffled what the powers that be see in Siebert… every time I watch him he has been very sub standard and card happy.

General Discussion / Re: Paul Tierney - Chelsea vs Newcastle
« on: Sun 15 Mar 2026 18:45 »
Rosenior really is living up to the ‘David Brent’ persona that so many people have tagged him with. Saying the players wanted to crowd round the ball to respect it; what a load of complete and utter tosh.

Rather refreshingly, a lot of fans on the radio phone in earlier, were actually on Tierneys side rather than Chelsea

By the way Rosenior is behaving he wouldn't recognise or experience respect if it reared up and bit him on the arse.

Much like the actions and precedence that Chelsea have set since Boehly came in, and the spend of nearly half a billion quid circumventing all realms of honest practices.

A rotten club to the core.

Well I needing have posted as Mr Marsden another bad game, missed an obvious red card for me but yellow was given. At some point I felt he couldn’t control the game for both teams he seems very indecisive on handing cards out wonder how he got marked but the assessor in attendance

Sounds like a standard performance. He was demoted in the olden days and now in the new age of things still gets decent games.

I’m baffled.
Mr Marsden was 4O in our NL play-off final v Boreham Wood suggesting that he was the second best referee in the NL behind Neil Hair that season. It was hard to see why, but that's when he got first elevated to the FL list.

And very quickly banished thereafter…

Not a good weekend in the championship with some very sub standard offerings across the board.
