General Discussion / Re: Liverpool v Chelsea - John Brooks

I totally disagree with most people here ! I think Brooks was excellent and is bar far the clear 3rd best referee in the premier league

After Oliver and Gillett?

We get Captain America on Saturday!

I was looking everywhere through the fixtures as I assumed this was another Macho (or Muscle) Man variant for Stephen Martin.

How about Captain America vs. Macho Man as a film franchise?

3
"Smith of Smiths"  Judging by recent appointments, or by any other reliable source of information, who do you reckon is closer to a SG1 berth at the moment, Lewis or Josh ?

I prefer Josh as never seen him have a bad game so far unlike his namesake. However, 'the powers that be' seem to prefer Lewis

4
A good derby game for Darren Bond as well, with Palace scrapping for points and Spurs blowing hot and cold. I wish him well.

A remake of Where Eagles Dare, with Bond, Darren Bond in the lead role?

5
I like Anthony but he was awful on Saturday.

Looking directly at the incident referenced above and doesn’t give it, despite awarding a penalty at the other end (correctly) for the same thing.

Missed several fouls in the first half on Dibling especially.

His lack of consistency is becoming a problem.

Hence why Jarred has now usurped him potentially?

Had you referred to him as 'Macho Man', I could have muscled in with a few weighty puns

General Discussion / Re: Fulham v Villa - Darren England

Pretty faultless I'd say from England, no choice but to show Anderson a RC for DOGSO for a push in the back of Watkins, but also good to see that Philogene got a 2nd yellow for a cynical push in the back of Nelson when he broke clear on the wing. Despite what the claret and blue tinted commentators said, that was literally the epitome of consistancy.

Fulham although second best overall, only have themselves to blame with two own goals (the first was going wide and/or an easy save for Leno) and a poor, missed penalty.

With the high bar for handball/penalties, I can see why it wasn't awarded in real-time, but on this occasion I think in the scheme of things an OFR was correct, where England had a chance to review and make a subjective decision.
Interestingly there are differences of opinion Michael Dawson said the second yellow shouldnt have been given and Mike Dean had to agree saying the Fulham player fell to the floor after feeling a push with a few fingers, they said its a pity that it cant reversed as it is 2 yellows.
Havent seen it yet but will be interesting to watch.

The push by Philogene and the push by Anderson were literally identical, I've seen Fulham fans screaming about the RC and how terrible the ref was, but England had absolutely no choice to show a 2nd yellow in this case and I would have been screaming about inconsistancy had he not. I appreciate one was DOGSO and one wasn't but otherwise the offences were the same and stopped an opponent who had got past them.

I couldn't believe he only gave a YC in real time, there was certainly more than enough for a RC, but the right result in the end

Prescot it is and that is not the bad pun. (Take the Jag might have got that, but perhaps he only has the one)

What did I miss? Did we mention yet the secret place in Lancashire that is a million miles from Manchester/Ashton-under-Lyne that Missy BMB often alludes to?

A very little bmb wanted to be Mrs Spock! My childhood bedroom was covered in posters of Spock and Sarek. The only football posters were 1 of Mel Machin, 1 of Billy Bonds and 1 of Károly Palotai. Spock did get unceremoniously dumped for Dave Allison when bmb was about 6 but I doubt he suffered any heartbreak over it! #Useless trivia no-one wants to know!

If only your childhood crush had been Captain Kirk in his gold coloured shirt!

Basement battles for Oliver and Taylor.  England for us at the cottage, he was fourth official last season for this fixture when Lewis Smith made his debut. The Gillett record is still in tact… just for jag!
Brooks with the blockbuster on Sunday.

Grrrr, our best refs reduced to VAR-only this weekend (or bottom of the table clashes), whilst Barrott gets another middle despite a couple of recent shaky performances

Think that’s a top flight debut on the line for Andrew Fox at Craven Cottage - best of luck to him!

Guinea pig club again!

Andrea Colombo only became a FIFA ref this year, has never officiated a senior international before and gets England v Greece!

Instead of added time, do they hold up a board saying 'just one more thing'?
