General Discussion / Davide Massa: Benfica v Real Madrid
« on: Wed 28 Jan 2026 22:06 »
Massa making a fool of himself in a big game again. A brilliant performance before throwing it all away awarding a phantom free kick leading to the Benfica keeper scoring with the last kick to send them through!

Lincoln City FC (First Team) v Bradford City FC (First Team)
Football League 1
Referee: Parkinson, Stephen
Assistant Referee: Tewson, James
Assistant Referee: Clayton, Samuel
Fourth Official: Bell, Elliot

Once again we were miles off the pace but credit to Lincoln who were very very good. Stephen Parkinson didn’t do himself any harm but did come across as a bit of a ‘homer’. I would like to see the foul he awarded which led to the opening goal again (it appeared to be one of three wrong offensive free kicks given to Lincoln if I’m being honest). He wasn’t too keen on speeding Lincoln up either once they had a 2 goal lead but it wouldn’t have made a difference.

AR2 looked like a competition winner unfortunately, struggled with a few really basic throw in calls

General Discussion / Re: Norwich vs Coventry - Tom Kirk

Asante has form for that from his Salford days, clearly he hasn’t learned! I watched the second half and thought Kirk was outstanding - not much he can do about this just a shame nobody picked it up

Has Hooper had it yet?

Decent game for Salisbury with Palace falling down the table. I’m baffled as to how Jones gets any ‘golden games’, even with Spurs not being as strong as they were

Just seen clip online, and seems the classic case of referee call. The VAR should stay out of it, as it’s not a clear error, just a subjective judgement - one I’m comfortable with at first view.

Webb will still somehow find a way to jumble his words and agree with both the intervention and the final outcome

Huddersfield Town FC (First Team) v Bradford City FC (First Team)      Live on SkySports+
Football League 1
Referee: Duckworth, Edward
Assistant Referee: Jones, Matthew
Assistant Referee: Cunliffe, Mark
Fourth Official: Copeland, Steven

Once again no complaints with Ed Duckworth this afternoon. Got the red card spot on and a correct no penalty call against Baldwin in the first half. A couple of soft fouls each way and it felt like the 50/50 throw ins he sided with Huddersfield but he was certainly better than anyone in a pink shirt today!

General Discussion / Re: Worst performance ever
« on: Sat 24 Jan 2026 17:55 »
I’ll jump onto this thread with my own ‘worst performance ever’ - Bradford v Forest Green in 2021. Marc Edwards was the man in charge that day. From minute 1 he was all over the place, there was more wrong than right, but he also gave off a horrible arrogance of “everyone is here to see me”. We opened the scoring after barely 10 minutes and I’d already had enough of him!

The game ended as a 1-1 draw after Forest Green’s goal stood despite 3 incorrect decisions in the build up, including the most blatant of offside interference that was somehow missed. The only positive I recall was our fans calling for a dogso red but he judged it correctly as SPA. Saying that, it should’ve been his second booking.

Funnily enough, we never lost with him in charge and most of his other Bradford games ran smoothly, but the mere mention of his name in this part of the world still brings back bad memories from that day.

General Discussion / Re: New possible laws - bbc vid
« on: Thu 22 Jan 2026 16:17 »
I'd really like them to go further in trialing stopping the clock each time the ball goes out of play. Maybe they'd need to shorten the length of the match, but would in theory help stop this time wasting.

The countdown for throw ins is all well and good, but as someone said, are they expecting the big centre half to sprint up to the penalty area everytime they get a throw in........

I’m sure he’d get a move on if his team was losing. As for stopping the clock, delaying the restart is as much about halting momentum as it is running the clock down. These proposed count downs for set pieces would be a much better deterrence imo

Really not convinced that was a clear error not to award a penalty. It looked like simulation in real time and whilst there was contact, the Bournemouth player played for it with no intention of scoring a goal. Think it’s one of those that VAR should go with on field decision either way.

Nice to hear Tierney on the mic for the first time, I expected a stronger Wigan accent!

Well I’ve been asking for Stephen Parkinson, didn’t expect him to get our biggest game of the season though! Fairly pleased with Duckworth too but thought that game may have attracted SG2

Ndala was absolutely awful in extra time, although anyone would be mentally shot. African football needed a Senegal win to save its credibility and I think they were the better team

Having followed the whole tournament, I do have sympathy for Senegal. And what a shame for the referee, who was excellent for 90 minutes and then lost control through terrible decision making. Allowing Diaz to basically initiate the review was the worst bit of refereeing of the lot, but the carnage that followed would have happened anyway if he allowed the Senegal winning goal just the other way round.

I’m sure it’s nothing more than extremely weak referees but this tournament has not felt fair to the teams facing Morocco. I think not playing the remaining 3 added minutes was sensible, albeit not right..

Fair play to Sadio Mane for being the only player to want to continue. Whilst I said I have sympathy, that’s never the right thing to do

Goal for Senegal now and Diaz has been hooked, wonder what we will see next..

Garner fortunate to still be on the field and Rohl’s challenge on Maatsen warranted at least a yellow. Everything else has been spot on - the offside goal definitely a good call

General Discussion / Re: Grimsby vs Barnet - Jamie O’Connor
« on: Sun 18 Jan 2026 13:56 »
Do we know if Barnet appeal the red card is there a chance the suspension gets transferred to Kanu or is it a guaranteed overturn? You can hear the crowd react to something off camera when Kizzi is back in position so it’s not him. Looks like O’Connor has been hung out to dry by his 4th unfortunately
