Am I the only one wondering how Virender Sharma has been selected for the semifinal officials list? There is no doubt that he is a competent umpire; however, I would appreciate some clarity on the criteria or considerations behind his appointment if anyone can provide .

I also believe the ICC selected four extra umpires specifically to cover the T20 World Cup schedule.
This move clearly suggests that the next group of emerging umpires is likely to be Gazi Sohel (Bangladesh), Koch (Australia), Reifer (West Indies), and Black(Ireland) as these umpires are performed way better than others .
Its good to see umpires from Bangladesh and Ireland, especially in such a heavily studded lineup.

Based on the current form of all three umpires, rather than their age, I believe they can continue umpiring by next year worldcup or by max 2028 April.
Good thing is that ICC has already started identifying strong replacements, as the experience they have accumulated over the last few years cannot be overlooked.

I think Rohan pandit from india will also be in contention and moreover he is doing umpiring in icc worldcup leage matches Two 2023-27 matches .
My 6 emerging umpires would be(excluding Ahsan raja and asif yaqoob pakistani umpire from panel of umpire for 2026 world cup t20 )

I am also surprised with the omission of Anna harris.
Good to see 3 indian women umpires selected for this worldcup.. and i believe Gayatri will be the one for the future..she is an excellent umpire what i observed in last wo years.

I feel two more women emerging umpires -Venugopalan(ind) & Kerrin(Sa) should get the opportunity for one or two matches as they umpired in icc women's u-19 world cup semifinal matches last year.
Yes i also heard the news of appointing Bangladesh women umpire Sathira for this year worldcup .
So it would be interesting to see the appointments from ICC side now who they would pick.

Yes you are right..But what about Rashid riaz? Is he also be appointed for womens world cup .i presumed so. If it happens then we must understand that he is also a part of upcoming emerging panel.
What about female umpires ? Who you think will involve in this womens world cup (apart from nine umpires already in emerging panel of icc)

Yes i completely agree that BCCI and ACB give opportunity to better umpires this time like rohan pandit and izatullah safi.Both are good umpires and hoping to see them in emerging panel in upcoming years.
But surprised to see no Madangopal umpire from india.He is great umpire i should say. I dont know the reason and rashid riaz omission is also baffling as he already umpired in last T20 World cup matches.
Shocking to see Ruchira palliyaguruge (SL) is again in the asia cup panel of umpires as his performances were not upto the mark in past years..he was omitted from emerging panel too from the ICC side 5-6 years back.
Good to see Raveendra Wimlasiri getting the opportunities as he is better umpire than others shortlisted which i did not mention here .
