As Iv stated on numerous occasions those new breed robotic refs are imo not good enough for SG1 status, a trend seems to happen where by first half minimal cautions happen, then in the second half we see 4/5/6 all the time, it’s far too lobsided, on contrib/panal go back 7-15 years ago, if you had 0 first half and 5/6 second half majority of time the observer would focus on the lob sided balance and how could you of prevented that in the 2nd half.
Bram I personally don’t like as a referee, one would hope people develop their own style
If you have said it numerous times then you have added nothing new to the discussion by repeating yourself, in addition I have read your post several times just so I’m sure I’m not missing something and unfortunately I’m struggling to see anything constructive in your post , may I suggest in future posts you read the forum rules before posting and refrain from repeating your persistent criticism of  younger officials (with the exception of Thomas Kirk)and instead offer some constructive comment on their performances. I look forward to your future posts.

General Discussion / Re: Keith Hackett.........AGAIN !!!!!

I’m going to remind you all to refrain from personal insults towards the subject matter , by all means critique his refereeing in the past, his record in charge of pgmol, and his media comments but please refrain from any personal remarks . Our forum is above all that , many thanks to you all in advance.

........which is why I asked the question politely.

I hope I didn't come across as being insulting in any way shape or form as in any case as a mere fan I am in no position to criticise in any refereeing capacity.

It is only the fact that every week he seems to hold court and sometimes in a manner that if it was someone like myself saying the same I would have to answer to group admin to explain.
No you didn’t it’s just something I want to avoid as his name does seem to bring out strong feelings .

Really happy with Abigail Byrne. I will be there to watch the six pointer match between Port Vale and Plymouth. I saw Abigail once last season and I thought Abi was the best referee at Vale Park last season. Just no nonsense!

Have to say it was an average performance today. Nothing majorly wrong but a times a bit inconsistent for both teams. Thought all the yellow cards were spot on. The one bit that stood out was, Abi doesn’t seem like she is going to give a foul and then a few seconds later she blows up. Not sure if this is to see about playing an advantage. But on the whole it was a very poor game of football. Can easily see why both teams are in the relegation zone.
Completely disagree, thought she was outstanding, she controlled the game with the minimum of fuss , treated both teams fairly and consistently, all cautions were spot on and she only stepped in when necessary, also highly noticeable was the behaviour of the players was much better and little dissent imo a great reflection on her performance,my only gripe was not getting to grips with the port vale player who decided to go injured 1 cm from touchline and sit there causing a 4 min delay, absolutely no reason not to leave the field for treatment other than gamesmanship and disrespect for the officials who all indicated he should move off the field, then only 3 mins added at end of half . Other than that excellent and without a shadow of doubt the best referee I’ve seen in league one this season by a country mile.

Good review,  good decision,  kav could do with some public speaking practice lol .seemed a little tongue tied.

I saw Mr Kennard-Kettle in the middle at a Tranmere game for the first time, earlier this season v Notts County. In that game, his foul detection felt very erratic. While it would be wrong to form a judgement on just one match, it didn't come as a total surprise that he managed to issue such a strange red card in this game. Perhaps unusually, Rovers fans had a generally favourable experience of Mr Kettle senior's handling of our games.
At Plymouth Argyle we too were always more than happy with mr Kettle senior .

Jared took such an age to award the penalty kick do we know he didn’t ask Darren England to check that pope had played the ball ?

General Discussion / Re: Aston Villa v Fulham - Andy Madley

There is clear contact - after he’s has dived. He’s well on his way down before there is contact - simulation first then contact with the goal keeper. Correct call by Madley in my opinion.

I would respectfully disagree with Charlieboy about simulation requiring referees to have an extra degree of certainty before being penalised. I think that’s part of the reason players do it so often. It’s just another law, not a condemnation of a player, if a referee identifies simulation, he/she should take appropriate action. They should not be worried for one moment about a player being labeled a cheat. If the referee is wrong, one of the 20+ cameras will quickly tell us anyway.
I will agree to disagree,  that's what forums are about.

Another great decision by a referee to book a player for diving.
Dreadful decision by the referee imo , clear contact by the keeper on his leg even if you think it's not a penalty that is no way on earth a dive . I keep reading about players and coaches not understanding the laws and often that is right but here we see clear evidence of officials not understanding football.  It is my opinion that if you are going to caution for simulation you are calling said player a cheat , if you're going to do that you must be absolutely right . This isn't even close.

Declan Bourne seems to have had a bit of a mare this afternoon at Plymouth… reports suggesting he nearly did a Poll and forgot to send off Jack Shepherd for a second yellow.
If that was his only error.  Dreadful doesn’t come close.
